DACA Facts

Just the facts, Ma'm:  The vast majority of illegal aliens shielded by an Obama-created temporary amnesty program are adults over the age of 21-years-old, new federal data reveals.
Despite constant rhetoric from the mainstream media and pro-immigration politicians that nearly 800,000 illegal aliens shielded from deportation and given work permits under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program are “kids” and “children,” data from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) finds that 72 percent of DACA recipients are 21-years-old or older.

As Pew Research Center analyzed, the average age of DACA recipients is 24-years-old, far from the young age that Democrat and Republican establishment politicians like Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) have made the group of illegal aliens out to be.
The majority of DACA recipients, 37 percent, are between the age of 21 and 25-years-old, while another 24 percent are 26 to 30-years-old. More than 10 percent of DACA recipients are between the age of 31 and 36-years-old.
Both political establishments, corporate interest and the open borders lobby have been successful in labeling DACA recipients as mere children, with even President Trump touting the falsehood, calling the DACAs “incredible kids.”
Trump’s administration, via Attorney General Jeff Sessions, has said it will ultimately end DACA. With that announcement, though, has come a barrage of amnesty legislation from Democrats and the GOP establishment, where more than 3.3 million illegal aliens could receive a pathway to U.S. citizenship.
Any amnesty of illegal alien DACA recipients could result in not only a surge of hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens at the U.S.-Mexico border, but also a spike in chain migration, where four to eight million foreign nationals could get legal entry to the U.S., as Breitbart News reported.

Most recently, a former USCIS official said the DACA “fraud rate is 40 to 50 percent,” as Breitbart News reported.

Don't Touch my Dogs!

Yipes!  Does this take the cake for nuttiness, or what?

LOONEY LIBERALS NOW SAY THAT AMERICANS MUST GIVE UP THEIR PETS IN ORDER TO STOP GLOBAL WARMING

Most cat or dog lovers would say they can’t imagine living in a world without pets, but as the threat of global warming increases, environmentally conscious pet lovers may need to make some tough choices, according to the study.

Pet ownership in the United States creates about 64 million tons of carbon dioxide a year, UCLA researchers found. That’s the equivalent of driving 13.6 million cars for a year. The problem lies with the meat-filled diets of kitties and pooches, according to the study by UCLA geography professor Gregory Okin.
Dogs and cats are responsible for 25 to 30 percent of the impacts of meat production in the United States, said Orkin. Compared to a plant-based diet, meat production “requires more energy, land and water and has greater environmental consequences in terms of erosion, pesticides and waste,” the study found.
And what goes in, must come out. In terms of waste, Okin noted, feeding pets also leads to about 5.1 million tons of feces every year, roughly equivalent to the total trash production of Massachusetts.
“Given the significant environmental impact of meat production, the contributions of our omnivorous and carnivorous pets deserve special attention,” according to Okin’s study, published in the journal PLOS ONE. “The U.S. has the largest population of pet dogs and cats globally, with an estimated 77.8 million dogs and 85.6 million cats in 2015.”
While previous studies have examined the impact of pet ownership on carbon use, water quality, disease and wildlife, Okin’s study delved into its impact on total U.S. energy and meat consumption and the environmental impact of that consumption.
“This analysis does not mean to imply that dog and cat ownership should be curtailed for environmental reasons, but neither should we view it as an unalloyed good,” Okin wrote in the study. “It is clear that a transition to pets that eat less meat, and therefore have less environmental impact, would reduce the overall U.S. consumption of meat.”
Okin’s report notes the social and emotional benefits of owning dogs and cats, insisting the study is intended to increase the awareness of the impact such pets have on the nation’s meat-production industry and its environmental effects.
“Additional research is needed to evaluate the animal content and human-edibility of ingredients in dog and cat food after processing, but the calculations presented here indicate that these pets comprise a significant proportion of U.S. energy and animal-derived product consumption, with the consequent environmental impacts, including greenhouse gas emission and feces production,” he wrote.
Okin noted that the pet food industry has made advancements in manufacturing, product design and alternative protein sources, but more can be done.
Simple measures like feeding domestic dogs and cats nutritionally appropriate amounts will certainly reduce their environmental and energetic impact, Okin wrote. “However, without large-scale reduction in their number and changes to the food system that drastically reduces the per-capita animal product consumption, the environmental and energetic impact of these animals will remain significant.”

-NOW THE END BEGINS

Maltichon: All of the above and more

A co-worker decided to give away his dog because of a need to focus on a family member's on-going medical issues.  Six-month old Ruby is a Maltichon: a MALTESE combined with a BICHON (per her record).  What a cutie.

I am aware that Maltichons can be tiny, so looking at her one would think she is rather oversized. Yet, IMO she's rather  "small" under the silky curls (only 10 lbs -- she's lighter than our Shih Tzu who shorter, and weighs 14+ lbs!).

Ruby came bearing gifts, LoL.

Australian Shepherd Dog

Met Max the Aussie while on a dog walk. He and owner live in the neighborhood.  We notice and try to get to know the dogs that happen to cross our paths during walks.  Maxie is friendly (his owner, even friendlier), a pure-bred, and purchased at the local-mall Pet store as a pup for a whopping $1800 a couple of years ago. However, you somehow get over the sticker shock when the price includes all of his medical needs for the first year: Vet check ups, neutering, inoculations, I.D. chip;  plus a warranty of his overall good health. Till I met him, I had not known that some Australian Shepherds are born with short -- seemingly intentionally cropped/bobbed -- tails.  So unlike the emailed picture from DogVacay below.

Look, Ma, no tail!

Max is a cutie, and really beautiful.  I have toyed with the idea of a mall pet-store purchase in the past. For now we've been spared that route with our pure-bred Shih Tzu whom we were able to snag at our local animal shelter for the measly price of $100; which included her DIVA personality; and everything else that  Max came with, sans doc visits and hair ribbons.

Two Real-life Cat Saviors

(1) In our bedroom area late last night, Kat got on the counter and deliberately made eye contact with his soulful, beautiful yellow/green eyes.  No, he was not interested in his food bowl.  Yes, our usually aloof cat wanted to be scratched all over. He then jumped off the counter, and did a fast trot down the hall.   He did a repeat of this behavior.

Later,  I made my way down the same hall to do a last-minute check of the kitchen before hopping into bed. That's when I heard dripping water.  Hubby had left the faucet on in the down stair's bathroom.  The sink was not draining properly, and the dripping had gone on long enough for water to accumulate over 3 inches.  The cat, sleeping in the living room, took note of the loud noise -- which I could not hear in our bedroom area -- and was bothered enough to attempt to draw my attention via his aforementioned behavior.

If left on overnight, it would have caused flooding  and damage to the bathroom's  floor. We would also have had to pay for the wasted water. We already pay a high enough fee to Chicago, our water's source, for pete's sake! Thank God for using our perceptive and intelligent kitty to save us money. Next time Kat gives me a prolonged look with his gorgeous googly eyes, I will take it as a hint of potential trouble brewing and do a thorough check of the entire house.

(2) Here is the another story of a heroic and even more perceptive cat:

Flying high with B & B

My flight-attendant cousin recently met former astronaut,  BUZZ ALDRIN --- second man to walk on the moon (Neil Armstrong was the first) -- on her flight to Orlando.

This brought to mind another possibly even more famous airline passenger: Target Stores' Bull Terrier mascot, BULLSEYE , rode First Class on Delta Airlines on his way to a store promo.

Coyote versus my Pup

Janey
Our Shih Tzu, while out doing her business after dark, had a coyote suddenly come  from behind the deck and lunge at her (what is it with the cover of darkness and a vulnerable position?!!)  Janey had been with me in the living room a few minutes before -- carefree, wiggly, wagging her tail, teasing the cat, perfectly happy -- and now she's got a bleeding, semi-deep tooth gouge on her side from a possibly rabid wild animal.  Shiver-me-timbers. I feel frightened and personally violated. How will Janey fare overnight? Will the bleeding stop? Will we need to get her stitched? God have pity on us thru our pet dog!

Three things come to mind: (a) Janey's unkempt hair had a role. The longer length may have shielded her skin and/or prevented the coyote from getting a grip. It was hubby's idea to wait a little longer before her next grooming appointment.  Thank God I listened  (b) The coyote ran off when he caught sight of my son.  Pity the person or  creature without a friend or a companion  (c) The Devil, referred to as a roaring strong Lion constantly on the prowl in the Bible, can do far more damage than a coyote. He is out to DEVOUR! Christians who are careless and ignorant of his devices are at his mercy.  Am I courting this type of danger through my anemic prayer life?

This injury was just from one coyote tooth!

Indian Boundary Park

Last Thursday, after the cemetery visit, I drove the children to Indian Boundary Park.  It's been my personal favorite for ages.  I remember taking Kris there as a toddler and while an only-child.  The place still holds its magic over young and old and middle-aged alike.  A lot of Jewish folks favor it.  I noticed more Hispanics.  The dogs, oh the dogs --- love to run around (leashed).  Mr Bubbles also ran-around (leashed), but was the noisiest when it came to squirrels. AJ & Farrah found two buddies who referred to them as Chinese number one, and Chinese number two.  Oh, well.  The place is such fun, no one took offense.

Here's CPD's official word on  Indian Boundary Park
