Real Money

I'm excited about this. I received several birthday gifts which were generous and sweet, but this one in particular was a first.  I had mentioned it in passing a couple of weeks previously as a "good" gift. I did not say where it could be purchased, nor how much it would cost.  Lo and behold, two of the kids actually heard, and followed through. Woohooo!

The Silver American Eagle Coin is legal tender and has a face value of $1.  It contains 1 troy ounce (31.1 grams) of .999 fine Silver.  The rest of the coin is Copper for durability. Why has this coin found favor in my eyes in recent months?  It is  affordable -- Silver's spot price is currently hovering @ $17 per ounce;  it is real money; and it is the world's only Silver bullion coin whose weight, content, and purity are guaranteed by the government of the United States. That can not ever be said of the trillions (Quadrillions??  Quintillions??)  of US paper money  floating around.  Yes, further research on my part is needed as to the place Silver can play in our portfolio which is currently heavy on the equity market. It goes without saying that I do value my husband's advice, and the wisdom found in God's Word:

Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.  Ecclesiastes 11:2

My special day was topped off by the good company of old friends, one of whom bought me & R a strawberry cake from a long-time favorite bakery, Lutz Cafe & Pastry Shop .  Oh, yesss!

EBOLA for Dummies

Please Share!
There is currently an Ebola outbreak putting all of us at risk. Please help educate all around you by sending this message to all your contacts..
What is EBOLA?

It's a virus that attacks a person blood system:
Ebola is what scientists call a hemorrhagic fever - it operates by making its victims bleed from almost anywhere on their body.  Usually victims bleed to death.
Ebola is highly contagious.  Being transmitted via contact with body fluids such as blood, sweat, saliva, semen or other body discharge.
Ebola is however NOT AN AIRBORNE VIRUS!
EXTREMELY deadly:
About 90% of people that catch Ebola will die from it.  It's one of the deadliest
diseases in the world,
killing in just a few weeks.

Not treatable(no cure):
Ebola has no known treatment or cure.  Victims are usually treated for symptoms with the faint hope that they recover.

How Do I Know Someone has Ebola?
•Fever
•Headache
•Diarrhea
•Vomiting
•Weakness
•Joint & Muscle pains
•Stomach Pain
•Lack of Appetite
Protect Yourself:
•Wash Your Hands with Soap.  Do this a lot. You can also use a good hand sanitizer. Avoid unnecessary physical contact with people.
■Restrict yourself to food you prepared yourself.
■Disinfect Your Surroundings

The virus cannot survive disinfectants, heat, direct sunlight, detergents and soaps.
Clean up!:
•Fumigate If you have Pests.
•Rodents can be carriers of Ebola.
•Fumigate your environment & dispose off the carcasses properly!
•Dead bodies CAN still transmit Ebola.
•Don't touch them without protective gear or better yet avoid them altogether.

Other Ways to Protect Yourself:
•Use protective gear if you must care or go near someone you suspect has Ebola.
•Don't share alcohol, or any drinks.
Report:
•Report any suspicious symptoms in yourself or anyone else IMMEDIATELY.
Do not delay!
Educate Everyone:
•Tell your neighbors, colleagues and domestic staff (anyone, really). Basically, you're safer when everyone is educated.

ISIS Beheadings

Sad to say that beheadings are nothing new.  Look back at the more famous beheadings mentioned in the Bible: Ish-boshet, Goliath, Dagon the idol, John the Baptist, and James the brother of John. The apostle Paul was very likely beheaded. More recent history has the French with their guillotines; the Japanese of WW2 with their swords, and nowadays, the recent beheadings by ISIS militants.

What should worry us is the prophetic Bible verse below

Leonard George (Len) Siffleet (14 January 1916 – 24 October 1943) was an
Australian commando of World War II.   He became a prisoner of war of the Japanese,
and was beheaded.   Pic: wikipedia

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (Revelation 20:4)

Per the verse above, there will be  MORE

BEHEADINGS TO COME!  It will  be a cause of death for many who love the Lord Jesus Christ. Thus, I would not be surprised if it continues to grow in popularity today as a favored form of execution. Connect the dots here, folks.  Trouble for people, particularly Believers in Christ, will not abate as the return of the Lord Jesus Christ draws near. Beware.  Take a wild guess as to the identity of the perps.  Hint, hint.

NGJ Shindig 2014 in North Carolina

Yee-haw!  Let me begin writing about the event with this short post:  I was pleased to actually see and hear Erin Harrison, of Keeper of the Homestead  fame.  She was hilarious playing a hillbilly woman during the main sessions; she even had occasion to sing.  I had never set eyes on her before the shindig, but I had read a couple of articles she wrote for NGJ magazine. Long story short --- she was horribly abused as a young'un. She was far from being, or feeling virtuous. She could have played victim, which she did for a while, and permanently ruined her marriage and family.  The only explanation for her healing and her joie de vivre in spite of the horrors is the power of the Lord Jesus Christ in her life.  She and Debi Pearl led a breakout session on how to have a happy marriage (Wow. This lady was so transparent about her life). I pre-ordered her book Living Virtuously directly from her husband who was manning their exhibitor's table (and who also happens to be just as good-looking as  Erin boasts, lol).  I can hardly wait to start reading it.  The book should be in my hands by the end of this month, God willing.

Should you have Children??

Two Great Questions!
Life really boils down to
 2 questions...

1. Should I get a dog.....?

OR...

2. Should I have children?

Now that I made you smile, pass it on to someone else who needs a laugh today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just to let you know I'm thinking of you today.

No matter what situations life throws at you....
No matter how long and treacherous your journey may seem..
Remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

You're laughing aren't you?
That's good 'cause my job here is done!

Have a great day
 and remember
to give thanks....

Cats are so dramatic!!
