What to do: My Dog Has Fleas

A cursory inspection of Janey  pup's noggin  revealed the little buggers.  The usual flea shampoo used to be adequate for a long while, but not anymore( I wonder if they have expiration dates?).  If she's got fleas, so do the other Pups. Added to the mix are our temporary house cats.  What to do, what to do??!!!

The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.

13As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.

14After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea. (David to King Saul1 Samuel 24:12-14 )

How Many Dogs Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb?

It's Friday's Laugh-of-the-Day. Funny that neither my Shih Tzu pup nor my smart Maltichon dog made it on the "news" clipping, but my intelligent Collie-mix did! (Son and DIL's Australian Shepherd made it too, lol).

Maltichon: All of the above and more

A co-worker decided to give away his dog because of a need to focus on a family member's on-going medical issues.  Six-month old Ruby is a Maltichon: a MALTESE combined with a BICHON (per her record).  What a cutie.

I am aware that Maltichons can be tiny, so looking at her one would think she is rather oversized. Yet, IMO she's rather  "small" under the silky curls (only 10 lbs -- she's lighter than our Shih Tzu who shorter, and weighs 14+ lbs!).

Ruby came bearing gifts, LoL.

Labradoodle Dog

Combine a Labrador and a Poodle; and you get a Labradoodle.  Sadie looks like a teddy bear and has  a sweet personality.  Only 6 months old at the time of these pictures which were sent to me by my Sis.

Sadie lives in a town called Sunriver with her Piano-teacher owner. Their home is large & rustic; and located next to a golf course. I'd been to the house, but this was a couple of years before Sadie was born. What I liked most about  it --other than that it was gorgeous and had two baby grand Steinway pianos in one room -- was the awesome & spectacular view of Mount Bachelor from the wall of large windows.

Flying high with B & B

My flight-attendant cousin recently met former astronaut,  BUZZ ALDRIN --- second man to walk on the moon (Neil Armstrong was the first) -- on her flight to Orlando.

This brought to mind another possibly even more famous airline passenger: Target Stores' Bull Terrier mascot, BULLSEYE , rode First Class on Delta Airlines on his way to a store promo.

Should you have Children??

Two Great Questions!
Life really boils down to
 2 questions...

1. Should I get a dog.....?

OR...

2. Should I have children?

Now that I made you smile, pass it on to someone else who needs a laugh today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just to let you know I'm thinking of you today.

No matter what situations life throws at you....
No matter how long and treacherous your journey may seem..
Remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

You're laughing aren't you?
That's good 'cause my job here is done!

Have a great day
 and remember
to give thanks....

Cats are so dramatic!!

Miss Cindy's Pottery, Bowls, and Vases for your Pet, House and Garden

Our family friend, Miss Cindy,  is an Electrician by trade and loves to work with her hands.  This is a sampling of the wonderful pottery work she does at home or in class or wherever else she can drag her pottery wheel.  These are made for Pets, but I saw a few items I wouldn't mind displaying in our home.

Laika, our Dog

Laika was born in Las Vegas, and moved here with his family, The Buchanans. Laika the Lhasa became ours in 1997 when Mrs Buchanan deemed her son too irresponsible as a pet owner.  So Laika walked on over to our house just a few feet away, with his dog dish in tow and not much else. He was an ideal pet:  he was playful, he didn't shed, he didn't bark excessively, he did his business outside, and he enjoyed camping with us.  Oh,  the memories!  Laika, you were too good for us.

Tonight,  our beloved dog made one last visit to the Vet's office...

Dogs' Day Afternoon: Dog-tober Fest

Dixie (foster dog)

♥ Oh, WoW! ♥

Cissy & Coco

Ha!

After attending Church Worship Service as a family on Sunday, we were off to Huntley for the first annual Dog-tober Fest. Our friend, Cindy,  was one of the vendors. Farrah & AJ walked her  Dachshunds, Cissy and Coco.  There were so many beautiful dogs; it was hard to choose from among our  pictures.  The large, black and white Marmaduke-looking dog was absolutely magnificent !!!  Look at those beautiful lines!  Where can I get one just like him?

Lost Puppy & a Happy Ending

"Mom, there's a dog outside, running loose!"

I look out the window to see a big German Shepherd pulling hard on the makeshift leash my children had put around her neck. At the other end of the leash was oldest DS, struggling in vain to gain  some control over the exuberant, and powerful dog.  I call the police, while keeping an anxious eye on the situation outside.

In the past, during the few occasions  when we've had stray dogs, I've had my children inside the house while the dog stayed   outside , awaiting the Police's arrival.  But this dog is appealing and cute and adorable.  She is intimidating in size, yet her nature exudes fun and goodwill.  My children want to stay with her; and they are soon joined by others. The dog is offered water.  Pictures are taken.  We fantasize about keeping her.  Soon, the HP Police arrive to pick her up.

Later, we find out  her name is "Nica" and that she lives in the next cul-de-sac.  Four, cute, little blond  boys knock on the front door within the hour to thank us for finding her.  Awww...that's proper etiquette for you.  Of course, I don't tell them about the damage on our newly-stained deck when Nica ran through it.  Nor the scratches and bruises inflicted on Jared as he was dragged by Nica.  Who cares....just look at that cutie-patooteee face!
