Renovation: Popular Fish Scale Tiles in Your Home

This tile shape is so awesome that I have a couple of folders dedicated to fish-scales tiles on Instagram, Pinterest and elsewhere. Appealing, popular, and slightly more expensive than your average tile. I especially like them in the color blue.

Did not get to use these tiles in my own renovations this time around, but God willing, at another time.  They are that memorable!

The Benefits of Drinking Water

Summer will be here before you know it.
Stay hydrated. Always.  Know why?  Here ya go ...

Note:  I will never forget the News from a few years back of Terri Schiavo.  Her husband  let her die "naturally" by removing her feeding tube because she was in a vegetative state.  She pretty much died a slow, horrible death thru thirst and dehydration.  A most cruel act. What a despicable man.  God have mercy on him.

Whoa: This Is What Happens to Your Body When You Drink Enough Water - Kristin Limoges, Domino Magazine

Inadequate hydration can cause extreme fatigue, poor memory, dizziness, constipation, and even mood shifts. But the great news is that water can have immediate benefits, even within 10 minutes or less. “That charge increases the cells’ functional efficiency, leading to better energy, clearer thinking, and less brain fog,” says Dr. Cohen. In addition, you can also feel an improvement in muscle cramps and headache relief.

After One Week

Within seven days of being properly hydrated, you’ll have fewer aches and pains and bowel movements will become more regulated and frequent.
Also, your skin clarity will improve. “A body that has been suboptimally hydrated will, over time, shunt water toward essential organs like your heart and away from nonessential tissue like your skin and muscles,” says Dr. Charles Passler, a celebrity nutritionist and founder of Pure Change Detox. “This can lead to wrinkled or drooping skin, as well as reduced muscle strength.”

After One Month

One month into drinking your daily recommended ounces of water, and you’ll be hitting your stride. You can expect clearer, less bloated skin, plus continuous benefits in mental clarity, muscle strength, and stamina, says Dr. Passler.

After Six Months

“Having our cells properly hydrated creates homeostasis in the body and flushes out toxins,” says Dr. Passler. Beyond just looking and feeling great, proper hydration is necessary for the proper functioning of every single organ and tissue in your body. “The long-term benefits of avoiding dehydration play an important role in reducing the risk of diseases and disorders, like urinary tract infections, hypertension, coronary heart disease, glaucoma, and gallstone disease,” says Dr. Passler.
Race you to the faucet?

Decor Candles I Like, Part 1

These candles  are either cute-looking or sweet-smelling; and free, cheap or discounted. If I were asked for faves, I'd say I like what Anthropologie offers.

The House Beautiful article on a popular Magnolia candle was one I had bought.  My first ever order from them. Was put on waitlist ... slow service ... eventually received within 4 weeks.  Then, given away as a gift to my Sis.

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

Kitchen Renovation: Ways We Made Our Kitchen Look and Feel Bigger

The Houzz article has good suggestions that you may be able to incorporate into your old or new kitchen.

Dilemma:  Our kitchen area was approximately 10 by 12 feet in size --not large at all -- cooped up by 2 walls which hid a large window.

How to make our kitchen feel bigger?
We began by  knocking down 2 non-load bearing walls.  Then, we chose our paint and cabinet colors in light/white. No upper cabinetry except for our tall pantry.  The  old kitchen's large "garden view" window turned into two smaller windows because we needed the wall for a stove.  The new skylight became our fifth wall and brightens the room.  We also chose not to have a rolling bar cart cluttering-up the passageway to the backdoor (however, the bar cart remains on my bucket list, LoL).

It worked!!  The formerly cramped kitchen became undefined in size (read, seemed bigger) as it got converted into an open-concept kitchen.  Add that to our decor choices above, and voila --  the eye is convinced the area is more expansive.

Hazy Potheads Speak on Social Media (Facebook)

cannabis-inspired chair, Domino Magazine
I have found certain FB posts more than a little entertaining.

For example, here is an actual public conversation between my abundantly positive, brave, albeit meddling friend; and a couple of potheads:

pc:  The Other 98%

My sober friend, Willie, (first  to comment on this public post)  I know marijuana is not physiologically addictive. Supposedly it will not result in an overdose. I do believe it has some medicinal benefits. It even helps a lot of people relax. However, I observed that most people that like to use it are underachievers. Can it be that they value being high more than they value improving themselves? Again, this is just my observation. There are a lot of good things a person can pursue to improve themselves. It is sad when their focus is being high. Maybe, deep down they are not happy with life.

Pothead Rhonda: Some of that is true. On the other hand have you notice (sic) how people on alcohol behave?

Sober Willie:   Like any drugs, alcohol or even tobacco, I don't use any. i love life...If you do not enjoy your life, you tend to be destructive/abusive especially to your body.

Pothead Bob (original poster): You (Willie) have no clue of what you are talking about! It is no different than alcoholics being underachievers... It can be abused like anything else. There are many good uses for it and the tax benefits are never ending.

Pothead Jerry:  What did he say Bob I lost my focus (sic).

Pothead Bob:  He said he observed people who smoke pot are under achievers. Don't even know who he is.

Pothead Sylvia:  Pothead Bob, Good answer to Willie. I always wonder if people who rant about the negativity of marijuana have ever tried it. Seems to me one must have some experience to be an "expert" on the subject.

Pothead Mary:  I've never been called an underachiever for a little smoke now and then, however I always thought I've done my best work with a little smoke here and there, but whose (sic) to say.

Pothead Bob:
Same here..... lol

****
This snippet of a conversation had me ROFLMAO!  Funny, yet not so funny.  A cloudy haze envelopes these sorry potheads. Sad to say I am related to a couple of them.

Bruschetta Bar

Breakfast Bruschetta Bar

Feed a houseful of hungry guests the easy way, without standing behind the griddle for hours. How? By letting them help themselves from a gorgeous selection that offers something for everyone. (Martha Stewart Living)
PHOTOGRAPHY BY: MARCUS NILSSON

The strategy: you do the setup and they do the  serving. Let your guests help themselves, creating their own sweet or savory flavor combinations. Toast a few trays of hearty
whole-grain bread and offer the slices with platters of meats, smoked fish, and cheeses; bowls of fruit; presliced or precooked vegetables; soft-cooked eggs; and, of course, plenty of options for schmearing, drizzling, and sprinkling.
Here are some suggestions -- but really, the options are endless.

• Sauteed Spinach with Garlic + Soft-Cooked Egg (For perfect soft-cooked eggs: Boil water, add eggs, cook 5 minutes. Drain -- and you’re done.)
• Raspberry Jam + Aged Goat Cheese

• Coconut Oil + Banana + Coconut Flakes

• Sliced Ham + Dried Apricots

• Smashed Tomatoes + Bacon + Parsley

• Maple Syrup + Flaxseeds + Pecans

• Labneh + Grapes + Almonds

• Smoked Salmon + Scallions

• Grainy Mustard + Salami + Cucumber
Antipasto (plural antipasti) is the traditional first course of a formal Italian meal. Typical ingredients of a traditional antipasto include cured meatsolivespeperoncinimushroomsanchoviesartichoke hearts, various cheeses (such as provolone or mozzarella), pickled meats, and vegetables in oil or vinegar. - wikipedia

Cher: Beachy Mansion on Malibu Beach

Cherilyn Sarkisian, aka, singer/entertainer CHER  -- Liberal celebrity and yet another Trump-basher --has a beautiful property by the beach. Wow. Her homes are lovely, and so is she.  Not bad for someone fast-approaching her 73rd birthday on May 20th.

In the living room is a Gothic Revival stone mantelpiece that was carved in Mexico. “The house is light,” says Cher. “Its walls are light. I don’t have a dark wall in the house.” Soft velvets and an inlaid-wood low table underscore the interior’s muted palette. - A D
