Friday Funnies: Up Up and Away in My Beautiful Balloon

A woman in a hot air balloon realizes she is lost. She lowers her altitude and spots a man fishing from a boat below. She shouts to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

A couple of Wheaton College alumni have been in the news recently:  Evangelist, Billy Graham ;
 and Dan Coates (class of '65), Director of National Intelligence under President Trump.

As much political experience as Mr Coates has (US Senator, US Representative, Ambassador to Germany), Christians must include him in their daily prayers to God.  Why? Mr Coates and his department produce the daily briefing that the President gets every morning. Thus, Mr Coates' accuracy, wisdom, intelligence, honesty, and memory must never, ever be compromised.  Mr Trump will base much of his decisions regarding national security and US interests abroad based on that daily report (definitely pray for President Trump also).

U.S. makes decision on troops in Syria: intelligence chief

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. intelligence chief said on Wednesday that a decision had been made on the future of American troops in war-torn Syria and the White House would make it public soon.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said the decision was reached at an “all hands on deck” National Security Council meeting on Tuesday.

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he wanted to “get out” of Syria but offered no timetable. 

At the same time, Trump’s advisers warned of the hard work left to defeat Islamic State and stabilize areas recaptured from the hardline militant group.

Trump said at a news conference the United States would “not rest until ISIS is gone,” using an acronym for the militant group. But he also suggested that victory was imminent.

“It’s time,” Trump told reporters, when asked if he was inclined to withdraw American forces.

The Pentagon and State Department have said a longer term U.S. effort would be needed to ensure that Islamic State’s defeat is a lasting one.

US Political Disaster Averted

"CONFIRMED: THE CONGRESSMEN ABOARD THE TRAIN WERE SUPPOSED TO BE IN SESSION. THEY WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HEADED TO A "RESORT" THAT DOUBLES AS A DOOMSDAY (COG) FACILITY. 

Adding to the credibility of the theory they were fleeing a threat is the fact that they had family members aboard the train, including children that should have been in school.

OVERWHELMINGLY PROBABLE: THEY RECEIVED DEATH THREATS OVER THE MEMO, AND WERE HEADING TO A SAFE PLACE WHEN THEY WERE STOPPED BY A STAGED "ACCIDENT"

Here's the story, which is all now 100 percent confirmed.

A majority of Republican congressmen who voted to release the FISA memo, which exposes an enormous amount of deep state corruption, were on an escorted train when they were supposed to be in session, with all roads closed ahead of the train (for security reasons) and the train receiving helicopter escort.

Despite all the roads being closed, the train hit a garbage truck while going 70 mph. The front wheels of the front engine derailed, but the rear wheels stayed on the tracks. With all the roads closed for security reasons, the only way the garbage truck could have gotten in the way of the train would be if it was done intentionally.

Even some Congressmen are now saying the accident had to have been staged, and that it was an attempt to kill a large number of congressmen who voted to release the memo. Large numbers of deaths would have occurred if the train did derail, (as planned) but with the will of God it mostly stayed on the tracks and none of the cars or engines tipped over. If that had happened at 70 MPH the results would have been devastating.

HEADS UP: Rogue factions in the United States government are attempting a violent coup with "plausible deniability. Fortunately only minor injuries happened but having this end up being minor defies all probability, it was supposed to be a disaster and it was definitely, without question, not an accident."

An America First Tax RELIEF PLAN: President Donald J. Trump, the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, and the Senate Finance Committee are proposing vital tax relief to strengthen the middle class, grow the economy, and unleash America’s economic comeback.

• We are calling for a dramatic tax cut, which includes:
  • A larger zero tax bracket;
  • Lower tax rates for individuals, providing relief to Middle Class American families;
  • Lower small business tax rates, giving a boost to millions of American businesses and farms; and
  • Lower corporate tax rates, making American business more competitive.
• Tax cuts, like those in President Trump’s unified framework, boost economic growth.
  • Since Vice President Pence’s 2013 tax cuts, as Governor of Indiana, unemployment in Indiana has been cut in half and more than 200,000 jobs have been created.
  • President Reagan’s 1986 corporate income tax cut contributed 3.3 percent to economic growth over ten years, according to the Tax Foundation.

• Create a new $500 tax credit for those caring for an adult dependent or elderly loved one.

Simplify the tax code: We will simplify tax filing so Americans can file their returns on a single sheet of paper.

• The vast majority of Americans will be able to file their taxes on a single sheet of paper.
  • American individuals and businesses spend more than 6 billion hours complying with the tax code, according to the National Taxpayer Advocate.
• The plan repeals the Alternative Minimum Tax, which requires many taxpayers to do their taxes twice.
• The plan ends the job killing “Death Tax.”

Lower The Crushing Business Tax Rates: We will cut tax rates for American business and make American business competitive again.

• The plan will reduce the corporate tax rate to 20 percent.
  • The United States corporate income tax rate is the highest in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and has been above the OECD average for almost 20 years.
  • The United States corporate income tax rate is more than 10 points higher than China’s, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
• The plan will also reduce the top tax rate paid by sole proprietors, S corporations, and partnerships to 25 percent.
• For the next five years, American businesses will be able to immediately write off the cost of their equipment and other capital investments.
• Economists agree that America’s corporate tax rate harms America’s workers by keeping their wages down.
  • More than 70 percent of the corporate tax burden falls on American workers, according the CBO.

Bring Wealth Back: We are proposing an “American Model” that will bring back trillions of dollars held overseas and restore America’s competitive edge.

• Profits that have accumulated offshore will be subject to a one-time low tax rate, thereby ending the tax incentive to keep those profits offshore.
• To avoid paying high U.S. corporate taxes on foreign profits, American companies have often reinvested their money abroad instead of repatriating it to U.S. shores.
  • Companies hold an estimated $2.8 trillion in earnings offshore, according to Audit Analytics.
• This plan will stop the “Offshoring Model,” which penalizes companies for incorporating in the United States.

Republicans are More Generous Tippers

may be more likely to leave a bigger tip than Democrats.

A survey from Creditcards.com released Monday shows that Republican males who live in the Northeast are more likely to leave a generous tip than Southern Democrats, according to  Fox Business.

Princeton Survey Research Associates International, the firm which conducted the survey for Creditcards.com, found that Republican males from the Northeast gave tips amounting to 20 percent of the bill when dining out, while Democrats from the South of both sexes tipped 15 percent on average.

Women also tended to be stingy tippers in the survey, giving tips amounting to 16 percent of a restaurant bill. (Note:  this is not the case in my household)

“When it comes to generous tipping, Republicans definitely beat Democrats. Fifty-nine percent of Republicans say their typical restaurant tip exceeds 15 percent, while just 46 percent of Democrats say the same,” said Matt Schulz, senior industry analyst at Creditcards.com.

“Democrats are also more likely than their GOP counterparts to say that they never tip hotel housekeepers, hair stylists/barbers and coffee shop baristas,” Schulz added.

Schulz stressed, however, that a person’s tipping habits are linked more to personal income than other factors such as political affiliation, sex, or geographical location.

“There are other factors, but generally, the more money you have, the more likely you are to leave a little extra on the table at the end of the night,” he said.

For those who are more likely to leave a tip, the ride-hailing service Uber rolled out  tipping on its app in June in select locations. The tipping feature is expected to be rolled out nationwide by the end of July.

Some restaurants, such as Danny Meyer’s group of restaurants in New York City, say that they want to end the practice of tipping altogether.

US Schoolchildren Dumber Under President Obama

Robert Gehl reports that schoolchildren in America got dumber under President Obama, according to a group that ranks exam scores worldwide.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development produces an exam administered every three years to 15-year olds in 72 countries. The exam tests reading, math and science knowledge.

The results? American schoolkids saw an 11-point drop in math and flatline scores for reading and science, FOX NEWS is reporting.

For the first time, Obama’s America fell below the average set by the OECD  and failed to crack the top ten in any of the categories.

As it stands now, according to the results, thanks to Barack Obama and his failed education policies, children in the Slovak Republic are better in math than Americans are.

So what were Barack Obama’s disastrous education policies? Or, is it possible, that in many cases, school districts, and schoolchildren, rise and fall regardless what the policy is from bureaucrats in Washington?

Barack Obama opposed private school vouchers – where parents receive taxpayer dollars to send their children to schools that are succeeding. Donald Trump has said he supports then.

Obama’s Education department was obsessed with making sure African American students and other students of color did not receive harsher punishments or reprimands than other school kids. They were also focused on limiting physical punishment of children at school altogether. That is not likely to be a central focus under President Trump.

Obama also demanded stronger regulation of for-profit colleges and universities. Many large, for-profit schools have shut down because of Obama’s enforcement efforts.

Last month, the Career Education Colleges and Universities association said for-profit colleges are ready to educate 5 million career professionals.

It put out a statement from former Speaker Newt Gingrich, calling on the federal government to stop targeting for-profit colleges. Gingrich was an early supporter of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

Instead of fighting for-profit colleges, Gingrich said the government should work with the schools to help Americans develop skills needed for good jobs and better pay.

Here is his ‘divisive’ address.  Notice the recurring theme of unity… We… All… American…

(and the jarring absence of Obama’s over-use of the word ‘I’).  Notice how he brings together White, Brown and Black by going past the superficial skin and tying them all together with the same Patriot’s blood.

Notice how he bridges city and rural by pointing to the ‘same night sky’ and ‘same dreams’. ‘Their success is our success.’

Is that bashing the Obamas?

Sure! They ARE establishment! They surround themselves with wealthy and powerful. They are in lockstep support of unions, and their priorities. They habitually pit one group against another. He launched his presidential bid in the home of a seemingly unrepentant domestic terrorist, and never missed a chance pick sides in a dispute, instinctively siding against traditional American values (criticizing Christianity at the prayer breakfast) or letting race inform his decisions about guilt and innocence.

Chief Justice Roberts, President Carter, President Clinton, President Bush, President Obama, fellow Americans and people of the world, thank you.

We, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and restore its promise for all of our people.

Together, we will determine the course of America and the world for many, many years to come. We will face challenges. We will confront hardships. But we will get the job done.

Every four years we gather on these steps to carry out the orderly and peaceful transfer of power.

And we are grateful to President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama for their gracious aid throughout this transition. They have been magnificent. Thank you.

Today’s ceremony, however, has a very special meaning because today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the people.

For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have bore the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered but the jobs left and the factories closed.

That all changes starting right here and right now, because this moment is your moment. It belongs to you.

It belongs to everyone gathered here today and everyone watching all across America.
This is your day. This is your celebration. And this, the United States of America, is your country.

What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people.

January 20th, 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again.

The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans.

For many decades we’ve enriched foreign industry at the expense of American industry, subsidized the armies of other countries while allowing for the very sad depletion of our military.

We’ve defended other nations’ borders while refusing to defend our own. And we’ve spent trillions and trillions of dollars overseas while America’s infrastructure has fallen into disrepair and decay.

We’ve made other countries rich while the wealth, strength and confidence of our country has dissipated over the horizon.

One by one, the factories shuttered and left our shores with not even a thought about the millions and millions of American workers that were left behind.

The wealth of our middle class has been ripped from their homes and then redistributed all across the world. But that is the past, and now we are looking only to the future.

We assembled here today are issuing a new decree to be heard in every city, in every foreign capital and in every hall of power. From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land.

From this day forward, it’s going to be only America first, America first. Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs will be made to benefit American workers and American families. We must protect our borders from the ravages of other countries making our product, stealing our companies and destroying our jobs.

Protection will lead to great prosperity and strength. I will fight for you with every breath in my body, and I will never ever let you down.

Finally, we must think big and dream even bigger. In America, we understand that a nation is only living as long as it is striving. We will no longer accept politicians who are all talk and no action, constantly complaining but never doing anything about it.

The time for empty talk is over. Now arrives the hour of action.

Do not allow anyone to tell you that it cannot be done. No challenge can match the heart and fight and spirit of America. We will not fail. Our country will thrive and prosper again.

We stand at the birth of a new millennium, ready to unlock the mysteries of space, to free the earth from the miseries of disease, and to harness the energies, industries and technologies of tomorrow.

A new national pride will stir ourselves, lift our sights and heal our divisions. It’s time to remember that old wisdom our soldiers will never forget, that whether we are black or brown or white, we all bleed the same red blood of patriots.
