Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the much older lady that she should bring her own grocery bags, because plastic bags are not good for the environment,.

The woman apologized to the young girl and explained, "We didn't have this 'green thing' back in my earlier days."

The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations."

The older lady said that she was right our generation didn't have the "green thing" in its day. The older lady went on to explain: Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled.

But we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day. Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags that we reused for numerous things. Most memorable besides household garbage bags was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our school books. This was to ensure that public property (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings. Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags.

But, too bad we didn't do the "green thing" back then. We walked up stairs because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We didn't have the "green thing" in our day.

Back then we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts. Wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days.

Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right; we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day.

Back then we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana.

In the kitchen we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us.

When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.

Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power.

We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But she's right; we didn't have the "green thing" back then.

We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blade in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn't have the "green thing" back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service in the family's $45,000 SUV or van, which cost what a whole house did before the "green thing."

We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint.

But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the "green thing" back then?

Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smart ass young person. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to piss us off... Especially from a tattooed, multiple pierced smart-ass who can't make change without the cash register telling them how much.

Apparently, the president being against leaks is now not only unpatriotic but a sign that he’s a paranoiac — at least, so long as Donald Trump is in the White House.

Axios  reported Thursday that because of the leaks — including ones which found their way into a Bob Woodward book and a  New York Times Op-Ed — Trump had become an “increasingly conspiracy-minded president.”

“He would basically be like, ‘We’ve gotta get rid of them. The snakes are everywhere but we’re getting rid of them,'” one source said.

“Trump would often ask staff whom they thought could be trusted. He often asks the people who work for him what they think about their colleagues, which can not only be uncomfortable but confusing to Trump: Rival staffers shoot at each other and Trump is left not knowing who to believe,” Axios reported.

“When he was super frustrated about the leaks, he would rail about the ‘snakes’ in the White House,” a source said.

“One day, after one of those meetings, he said, ‘Everything that just happened is going to leak. I don’t know any of those people in the room.’ … He was very paranoid about this.”

Wow, horrifying. I wonder what would happen if anyone else did this. Say, Barack Obama.

Because of course he did this, and of course the answer was “nothing.”

Yet, the Obama administration prosecuted leakers and gave staffers lie detector tests, as the  Washington Examiner  reminds us. In fact, the whole thing had to be reported by the  Committee to Protect Journalists, whose 2013 report received almost none of the kind of play that Trump’s “paranoia” is getting these days.

“U.S. President Barack Obama came into office pledging open government, but he has fallen short of his promise. Journalists and transparency advocates say the White House curbs routine disclosure of information and deploys its own media to evade scrutiny by the press,” the report said. “Aggressive prosecution of leakers of classified information and broad electronic surveillance programs deter government sources from speaking to journalists.”

“This is the most closed, control freak administration I’ve ever covered,” said David E. Sanger, longtime chief Washington correspondent for The New York Times.

The administration called its efforts against leaks the “Insider Threat Program” and implemented plenty of invasive methods to stop it.

“The Insider Threat Program being implemented throughout the Obama administration to stop leaks — first detailed by the McClatchy newspapers’ Washington bureau in late June — has already ‘created internal surveillance, heightened a degree of paranoia in government and made people conscious of contacts with the public, advocates, and the press,’ said a prominent transparency advocate, Steven Aftergood, director of the Government Secrecy Project at the Federation of American Scientists in Washington,” the report said.

This included lie detector tests.

“The director of national intelligence, James Clapper , announced on June 25, 2012, his own internal steps to stem leaks,” the report said.

“Employees of all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies — including the CIA, NSA, FBI and Defense Intelligence Agency — would be asked during routine polygraph examinations whether they had disclosed any classified information to anyone. And the new inspector general for the Intelligence Community, with jurisdiction over all its agencies, would investigate leak cases that had not produced prosecutions by the Justice Department to determine what alternative action should be taken.”

A contemporaneous article from USA Today said the report “portrays an administration gripped by strict policies about information flow and paranoid about leaks across all executive branch departments.”

Yet today? Nothing.

But the paranoid one is Donald Trump. Right.

 Mr Obama, if anyone should not "struggle to understand Trump's victory," it's you - the guy who made it all possible.

I’ve given it a couple weeks. I thought at first I was just having a visceral reaction to a man I find exceedingly culpable for fanning the flames of discord in our country. He did so feverishly for eight years, all for the gain of his own personal brand. But I’ve waited for two weeks and I can’t shake the sense of indignant disbelief at the hubris of our former president.

Perhaps none of this actually happened. Perhaps this is his former aide Ben Rhodes struggling to tell the truth again. Perhaps this is just more embellishment of a man whose relative greatness was perfectly symbolized in the gigantic Greek columns that were actually made of Styrofoam and removed by the night custodians at Hyde Park.

But since we’ll never know if this is just yet another false narrative from a presidential squad that mastered that art for almost a decade, we must operate under the assumption that Rhodes is serious when he writes that after the 2016 election, Barack Obama had an introspective conflict between knowing how great he was, and knowing that we just weren’t yet ready for him. I’m not kidding. These are the words from the New York Times  story that I just can’t get past:

Fall back into their tribe? It is impossible to find a president before him who did more to isolate people into tribes than Obama. Remember:

• It was Obama that tactlessly berated the Supreme Court during a State of the Union Address for daring to rule against him.
• It was Obama who taunted Republicans from his opening moments as president by declaring, “Elections have consequences and I won.”
• It was Obama who mocked his ideological opponents by suggesting that Republicans could come with him but they were going to have to ride in the back of the bus for a while.
• It was Obama who intentionally invited Paul Ryan to sit in the front row, unable to respond, as he publicly trashed Ryan’s budget plan with mischaracterizations and innuendo.
• It was Obama that scorned those of us in “fly-over country” as bitterly clinging to our guns and religion.
• It was Obama that stirred the race tempest repeatedly: from his references to “typical white people,” to falsely accusing the police of “acting stupidly” in their reasonable and appropriate detention of Louis Gates, to wading into the Trayvon Martin furor before the facts were known, to accusing the police of racism in Ferguson, Missouri even after the grand jury decision.
• It was Obama that used memorial services to slaughtered victims of gun violence to lead lobby for his politics.
• It was Obama that bragged about unilaterally circumnavigating Congress and enacting policy with his “pen and a phone.”
• It was Obama whose own Vice President equated Republicans to terrorists – an offensive comparison that was backed up by others in his administration.
• In short, Barack Obama’s entire presidency revolved around dividing people as a means to accruing power. Supremely unqualified for the role of an executive, he had mastered the art of political organizing, fund-raising, and posturing. Community organizers like himself are exceptionally adept at agitating people, organizing them, and provoking them to respond. For any president with such a track record to now offer fake lamentations over those who choose loyalty to their political tribes in a successive election is more than any rational mind can tolerate.

As is this haughty and self-righteous conclusion:

Shame on you, America. You disappointed Barack Obama.

Imagine being so self-absorbed you conclude that the country just wasn’t ready for your own greatness. Imagine inverting the concept of public service to the point that rather than taking the George Washington approach and fretting over your own ability to live up to your country’s expectations, you express disappointment that your country did not live up to yours.

Rarely a day goes by that the agitated left doesn’t do something outlandish that causes commentators to remind them, “This is how you got Trump.” But truthfully, no one is more responsible for the emergence of Donald Trump than Barack Obama.

He bred Trump’s kind of politics; he engendered the divisiveness and fed off the kind of rancor that animated Trump’s rise. Trump is the anti-Obama. If American politics is indeed a pendulum, Trump is the only fitting and logical kickback to what Obama wrought. So Mr. Obama, if anyone should not "struggle to understand Donald J. Trump's victory," it's you - the guy who made it all possible.

Former Mexican president  Felipe Calderón, during the Obama administration, quickly picked up on our then traitor-in-chief/president’s invitation to the world to use a wounded Constitutional America he was out to ruin as a welcome mat and a grab bag full of bleeding-heart-leftist-enabled entitlements. I remember the shock I experienced watching that wannabe dictator, floating stylishly on all the drug cartel money and funds wired home from illegals, standing in front of our House of Representatives, actually scolding Arizona and the United States for daring to prevent his people from ‘pursuing their dreams’ here in America. Of course when he said that he was met with a standing ovation from the oligarchic socialists on the left side of the aisle. Calderon has never been bashful about bashing the United States for even the right’s attempts at maintaining the integrity of our southern border. With Obama in office, he saw his opening. He probably even rehearsed his diatribe before Barack for his approval. In hindsight, can we doubt that?

Another one of Mexico’s presidents, Enrique Peña Nieto had to take his shot at President Trump for adopting what he called a “threatening” attitude toward Mexico. And then he even lauded the Mexican Senate for their round condemnation of what our President had said. Well Whoop Dee Doo!! The transient executive went on to prance around with all the grace and diplomacy of a Benito Mussolini. He rattled his imaginary sword further as he swaggered on ... “We will not allow negative rhetoric to define our actions. We will only act in the best interest of Mexicans.” To quote Darth Vader, “Impressive! Most impressive!” So, what he was really saying was, “We get American tv down here. We know that everybody on ‘The View’ makes fun of you, President Trump. We also know that - from the daytime soaps, to most all major network, liberal media newscasts - the fun and trendy faction in your nation is giving you hell. So we will join in that fun and cruise that momentum. And again President Trump is further vilified for his commitment to making the best interests of Americans his first priority.

But, am I going mad? (Too late.) Nevertheless, a brand-new kind of letter has shown up on the desk of our great President Donald J Trump! Mexico’s President-elect, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has forwarded a seven-page letter expressing among other things, his plan to boost the economy of Mexico, as well as their security, SO THAT HIS PEOPLE ’ ... NO LONGER FEEL IT NECESSARY TO MIGRATE!’ “There will be many changes ... And in this new atmosphere of progress and well-being, I’m sure we can reach agreements to confront together the migration phenomenon as well as the problem of border insecurity.” Again, I must be nuts! We now have a Mexican president who is actually going to encourage his people to work for a better Mexico?! What is going on? Donald Trump is going on.

Can you imagine that?! The leaders of this world are beginning, more and more, to respect and express a desire to work with an American President who actually possesses something other than a rubber spine. Despite how liberal-fake-news media has been scrambling to defuse and compromise President Trump and therefore our nation’s safety and predominance as a leading world power, the radiant truth and light of the MAN who will not bend is currently shining through the black night of broadcast dishonesty. The Mexican president-elect went on to say, “I am encouraged by the fact that we both know how to do what we say, and we have both faced adversity with success. We managed to put our voters and citizens at the center and displace the establishment.”

That is good president-elect Obrador’s way of saying, ‘Your authenticity and relentless effort is beginning to catch on, sir! I don’t think I’m going to kiss anyone’s behind down here, either!’ [Has he yet met with the Clintons? If so, will he suddenly become suicidal from his recent victory?] Obrador went on to express hope in devising a mutual plan, backed by public funds and other Central American countries, with the aim of making it “economically unnecessary” for the continued exodus of Central American and Mexican citizens into the United States!

That has to gall so many of our leftist polity who are absolutely depending upon flooding immigrants to tip the scales at the polls from here on out. Make no mistake, the damage has been done enough to date to give one pause. Nevertheless, the effects of real leadership are wafting all around a slowly awakening globe. And more and more people are seeing that the ‘One World’ dictators’ club may not quite have a shoo-in (no it’s not ‘shoe-in’) just yet. As time goes on, not even the fast dancing of a lying Clinton, Comey, Obama or a sinisterly sneering weirdo like the ‘FIB’ agent Strzock will be able to keep the world from seeing that, at the very least, only the worst characters and most miserable losers are left standing without chairs as the music is beginning to stop for the “Hate Trump Club”. Now all the third-rate actors, washed up politicos and shadow government slime have little left to lean on beyond a waning, ridiculous-looking Mueller and a more and more purchased-appearing, but definitely SOLD OUT Jeff Sessions.

Let’s make sure it’s Trump in 2020. He is, just like a gut-busting, hard-working Superman, beginning to fly fast enough to turn this world around. Keep him in your prayers, by all means. If the wolves ever get back in charge of our American Eagle’s nest, it will be all over but the crying.

POTUS Obama & Democrats: Off-With-Their-Heads Tendency Through Art

Mr Obama & his subtle promotion of racial tensions...

Whenever a former president and first lady leave office, it isn’t long before they have official portraits commissioned specifically for the purpose of being displayed in the Smithsonian Museum’s National Portrait Gallery.

According to CNN, the official portraits of former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle were unveiled on Monday during a small ceremony in Washington.

Obama’s portrait featured the ex-president seated in a wooden chair in front of a backdrop of green leaves and flowers that seemed poised to envelop him and the chair, as if he were in an overgrown garden of some sort

The portrait was painted by an artist named Kehinde Wiley, who has now become the first black artist to paint an official presidential portrait for the Gallery.

According to The New York Times, Obama specifically chose Wiley as his painter in October of 2017, after Obama reviewed portfolios of the work of nearly 20 different artists.

Wiley’s claim to fame is adapting classic pieces of artwork to the modern-day by imposing young “urban” men and women in regal poses against bold backgrounds.

One such example noted by The Times is that of a painting of late singer Michael Jackson atop a horse, meant to resemble the classic portrait of Spain’s King Phillip II mounted on a white charger with a great battle scene in the background.

But there are other pieces of Wiley’s that have been adapted and modernized from the classics that are a bit less absurd and definitely more grim, particularly one which seems to advocate for racial violence.

According to The Daily Caller, Wiley has produced two similar paintings that purport to spin off the tale of Judith’s beheading of Holofernes, a story found in the Book of Judith.

In that story — part of the Catholic Bible proper but considered apocrypha by Protestants — a Jewish woman named Judith seduced and then beheaded an Assyrian general named Holofernes who was set to destroy her people — a story that has been told through classic artwork on numerous occasions in the past.

But in Wiley’s version, Judith is a black woman instead of Hebrew, and the decapitated head of Holofernes is not that of a male Assyrian general, but instead is that of a dead white woman.

As acolytes of the former president are quick to remind us, Obama was supposed to have bridged the racial divide in this country with his election. Unfortunately, his tenure in office only served to broaden that gap and leave racial tensions even worse than they were prior to his entering the White House.

The fact that he [Obama] specifically chose an artist to paint his official portrait who has in the past depicted a proud black woman holding aloft the severed head of a white woman will do nothing to alleviate that perception — and could conceivably make things worse.

Imagine for a moment the outcry from the left if President Trump were to commission a portrait of himself from an artist known for painting white people holding the severed heads of black people.

I think we already know how that would go.
