Garlic: List of Uses and Benefits

Uses & Benefits of Garlic:

Ahhh… garlic, that Italian cure-all. You can hardly go wrong any way you try it.

Here’s one special way I use it:
First, go to the garden (or the grocery store) and bring home a couple bulbs of garlic. A bulb is the golf-ball size pod of the plant, which can be separated into many cloves—shaped like the individual wedges taken from an orange. Break off two or three large cloves, and lay them on your counter. Set some water on the stove to warm, and then spread out a clean washcloth or double-thick paper towel. Smack the garlic cloves with the bottom of a heavy glass to lightly bruise or crush them. Now the papery skin will come off easily. Take the bruised cloves and dice them up, or smash them in a garlic press so that the juice billows out the familiar aroma that makes you hungry for Lasagna.

Lay the 2-3 tablespoons of minced garlic in the center of your washcloth or paper towel, and fold in the edges of the cloth, creating what I call a “poultice” or “plaster.” Place this garlic pad in a bowl or plate and pour warm (not hot) water over it. Let it sit for 5 seconds or so, then drain and squeeze the excess water out with your hands. Apply the warm (not hot!) poultice to the chest, back, and soles of the feet (alternately) for about 60 seconds each for treatment of any virus, cold, flu, infection, etc…

Garlic poultices can also be used for earaches—placing crushed garlic or a garlic poultice against the infected ear. Also, a clove of garlic wedged in the ear like an old fashioned hearing aid works great for earaches (but be careful not to leave too long, or you will burn the skin!)

For flesh wound infections, hold against the wound lightly for about two minutes. Repeat several times a day.

To treat eye infections, hold poultice over the tightly closed eye for about two minutes. Careful! This burns really bad if it gets in the eye.

Warm garlic oil is also healing and comforting in an ear when there is an infection. The oil is made by adding a few drops of olive oil to a tiny bit of fresh crushed garlic, let sit for a few minutes, then strain out all the garlic and discard. The oil that goes in the ear must be free of any visible particles. You will have enough for one application of warm garlic oil for an earache. I always make mine fresh. Do not make it too strong, because it can burn the skin. Experiment on the inside of your arm to see how strong or how long you can leave the garlic on your skin without it burning. It can literally blister your skin (chemical heat.)

A very weak or mild, warm garlic water douche is helpful for female infections. Douche recipe – pour very warm water over crushed garlic in a sieve. Dilute with cold water until tepid. Check by tasting it, so that the garlic flavor is very light.

Warm water poured over crushed garlic in a strainer, with added vinegar and honey will make a “tea” or “gargle water” that will knock out the worst sore throat or mouth infection.

Tips to Live By:
Don’t wait until you are miserable before taking action! As soon as you feel that sore throat coming on, sip some hot garlic water, and you will NEVER get sick. If you are tough, and your love-life is secure, you can just eat a garlic clove raw. Treat your children as soon as they get cranky; don’t wait until they get an infection.

Garlic is very strong. If the patient’s nose starts running with clear mucus like a dripping faucet, then it’s time to ease off on the garlic treatment. It will open every pore and detox you so quickly and thoroughly, you may be miserable if you over-do it. So, be watchful.

Grow your own garlic! Once you learn how to use it, you will quickly become dependent on it. If you have your own little garlic plot in the backyard, you won’t have to make midnight runs to the grocery store when junior gets a cold.

Read the following book. It will give you many more practical tips and home-care knowledge that will keep you from going to the doctor.  The ABC Herbal by Steven H. Horne is written to help moms learn how to treat their children with herbs. It is short, simple and would be a help for all moms.

NOTE: This is how I use garlic, but I am not a licensed medical doctor, and do not intend this as advice on how you should use it. Consult your physician.

Family: Raising Boys to be Men

Author, JM Barrie (9 May 1860 – 19 June 1937) and his infamous quote came to mind recently during the news of a lawsuit brought by parents against their deadbeat son.  Said son had been living, rent-free, for 8 years; and has the GALL to label himself a Conservative (politically), eeek!

Prayer: Keep It Up Against Curses & Spells

Year 2018: A reminder to me and others who name the Name of Christ to PRAY daily and tirelessly for the many needs that are inevitable while one remains alive and breathing. Fervent prayer in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is one of my goals for Year 2018, and with His help, strength and prompting, I can do it.

It's also a very good idea to pray daily against the many wicked, spiritual situations that specifically target our duly-elected government leaders such as the POTUS, VP (include their spouses, children, extended families and Advisors in prayer to the Lord also).  They each have a job to perform, and they are to do it well or our country would be in trouble on many fronts.
See the news links below for some of the deluded troublemakers.

NOTE: Christian, take heart!   God's unerring Word gives a firm assurance to the innocent, undeserving-of-curses man or woman.

The happiest child I know happens to have Downs Syndrome

Happy New Year 2017!
Not a fan of Deepak,
but the Word and the rest of the article is a good read.

The happiest child I know happens to have Downs Syndrome.
He hasn’t a care in the world, or one that lasts longer than two minutes.

Every night he goes to sleep with no bitter or angry feelings. His soul is at peace with everyone. His mind is fresh and new each day. No resentment ever takes hold.  He is totally amused, fascinated and entranced in the simplest things of life: A shadow, a string.

His mind is not complicated with troubles in life. Where to go, what to do, who to like or dislike. He trusts all men, smiles at every person, forgives all with uninhibited release.  He goes about life slowly somewhat in his own world with a smile, a hug, a pat on the back.

He looks at me and smiles as he says, “I love you”, “thank you”, “why can’t you be as happy as me?”  Because my mind is strong, my IQ high, I’m in this world, mixed up in this world loaded down with the cares of the world. Struggling through the miry clay. Too many things to think about and decide.

Why can’t you be simple just this once and clear your mind of all else and believe in a Man who cares for you, a Savior who loves you, Jesus who died for you.  Jesus the ultimate Joy unspeakable.

“Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:” (1 Peter 1:8).

“Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away” (Isaiah 51:11).

US Presidential Election 2016: Are you a delusional deplorable?

Deceived Christians not voting for Trump
Part 2
:

I have read that many professing Christians have said they are not going to vote for Trump, allowing Clinton to rise to power, because they want God to judge America. Is there such acrimony against sinners that Christians are willing to sink the ship in order to kill the rats? I am compelled to shine the light of Scripture on those whose hearts are so hard against sinners that they are willing to sacrifice our children to punish sinners.
When Abraham was informed that God was going to bring judgement on Sodom, a city filled with homosexuals, adulterers, and violence, Abraham pleaded with God to spare them. When Jonah was told to go to Nineveh and call them to repentance, he took a ship in the opposite direction because he wanted God to judge Nineveh. Judgement came on Jonah alone as he was swallowed by a whale. When he was finally constrained enough to go to Nineveh and his reluctant preaching provoked them to repentance, thus staying the judgment of God, Jonah sat down on a hill above the city and pouted. God interrupted his sulking with, “And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?” (Jonah 4:11). The entire book of Jonah is a statement about the mercy of God compared to the self-righteousness of his prophet.
It is so easy to ascend the hill of righteousness and look back down on the awful sinners. The disciples grew vengeful when they saw sinners acting like sinners. “And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village (Luke 9:54–56). The Christians who would fail to vote because they “want to see God judge America” do not know “what manner of spirit they are of.”
Christians seem to be ignorant of the fact that God’s judgment comes on those with the most light. “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17).
The sinners won’t be carried into Babylon captive; the innocent children will be.
The judgment will come in a form that takes away Christian liberty and forces children to become part of the secular state. The judgment that believers are welcoming is their own suffering, not the sinners on whom they wish evil. The godless state will be strengthened. Families will suffer while the state celebrates its victory over all that is holy and pure.
When your children are forcibly taken from your home and placed in government care and sent to a school where they are encouraged to have same gender sex and change their sex on a whim, when babies are killed as they come out of the womb, and all vestiges of Christianity are wiped from their minds, and the secularists celebrate their victory while you try to scratch out a living in a war torn country where taxation prevents prosperity, you will remember that you wanted judgment and you bought it with your vote. If you fail in your responsibility to vote against the hellish Hillary, it will not be God’s judgement; it will be your judgement upon the children of America.

Part 1:
Election and the Christian

Michael Pearl

Our nation stands at a dangerous crossroads in this coming election. History reveals that national judgments which brings misery and suffering come from two hands—the hand of God who deems it best for the people to suffer so they will turn back to him, and the hand of men who through their actions and political policies design their own destruction.
I fear that time has finally come for America to reap what it has sown. Of course, we expect nothing of unbelievers; the Christians are marching us to judgment. The freedom to homeschool, the right to bear arms, the freedom to worship and proclaim Bible truth, the freedom of speech and assembly, and all the great things we have enjoyed about America may soon be snatched away. Judgment must begin at the house of God (1 Peter 4:17).
November 8th is the day of reckoning, and many Christians are blinded by their pride.
The Old Testament provides a window into how God relates to his people, what he tolerates and what will cause him to bring national judgment on a people—the guilty and innocent alike.
There are two things that provoke God to judge a nation. The Old Testament provides abundant examples of judgment falling on those who “dash their children, and rip up their women with child” (2 Kings 8:12). God commanded the total genocide of the Canaanites race because they offered their children in sacrifice. Hillary Clinton promises that she will appoint justices who will support partial birth abortions.
The second thing that stirs God to wrath is homosexuality. The story of Sodom and Gomorrah is famous for its bold declaration that God hates homosexual acts (Genesis 18-19). Romans Chapter One reveals the mind of God when it declares that not only those who do acts of homosexuality warrant death from God, but those who take pleasure in watching others perform same sex acts also deserve death. Every man, woman, boy and girl who have taken pleasure in movies or pornography of same sex acts are worthy of death (Romans 1:32). Hillary Clinton has promoted not only the equal rights of Sodomites, but she has denied the rights of the rest of us to reject that lifestyle as evil. Under a Clinton regime, through the Supreme Court Justices she appoints, the church will lose it liberty to preach and live by the Word of God.
The next president of the Unites States, through the appointment of Supreme Court Justices, is going to open the door to baby killing and normalization of homosexuality even further, or is going to appoint justices who stay the advance of the two things that provoke God to terrible judgment.
This November 8th the people of this United States will chose one of two viable candidates to lead this nation deeper into that which will bring judgment or may stay the hand of wrath a little longer. There is no third party candidate that has any chance to take the helm. Many Christians say they will not vote for the narcissistic Trump because he is a great sinner. A great sinner he is, as are many political leaders. God chose the wicked unbeliever of Nebuchadnezzar to be the king of Babylon, saying to him, “Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory” (Daniel 2:37).
Likewise God chose the wicked king Cyrus of Persia to be his instrument in delivering the children of Israel, saying of Cyrus, “He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure” Isaiah 44:28–45:3.
Samson, with his philandering and groping, is no doubt the poorest example of a supposed Believer found in the Bible. Yet God chose him to protect the righteous. And Samson is listed in Hebrews 11 among the heroes of the faith.
Some of the founding fathers of our nation were unbelievers, yet we honor them, for God used them to establish the greatest nation on earth.
I have pondered the strange phenomenon of Christians choosing not to vote for a man who has clearly denounced abortion more than most any man, who has ever run for office, and who supports our Christian freedoms. My conclusions are sad. I do believe that Christians are frustrated with the state of the church and the lack of conviction. The day of power is long gone. Preachers are wimps, and there is no man to lead us back to God. In the absence of a prophet to lead the church, Christians have placed their hope in political figures. In short, we are looking to a politician to save us. The occasional evangelical believer who runs for office has never gained sufficient traction to get close to taking the commanding seat in the White House. I believe Christians are rejecting Trump because he does not fulfill the role of Moses or the Apostle Paul. He is an unholy man who is disgusting in his manner and lifestyle, but his political positions would be appealing if they came from a professing Christian gentleman whose life was above approach. So in the name of “holding to my principles” many Christians are cutting off their children to spite the up-turned noses on their faces. Not voting for Donald is a vote for more abortions, the end of homeschooling, the policing of religious speech in churches and public forums, the termination of the right to bear arms, and much, much more.
A vote for Trump is not an endorsement of the man; it is sadly the only option to prevent a great leap into an anti-Christian Supreme Court.

Finally, there is a truth in Scripture little spoken of: When God is ready to judge a nation, he actually sends strong delusions that people will believe a lie and act contrary to their own best interests. It may be that many of my blinded friends have succumbed to the delusion that “standing on principle” will somehow work to their good. Like it or not, every election since George Washington has been a choice between the lesser of two evils. There is one principle to be applied to close friends and pastors, and another to be applied to the corrupt world of politics.
It may be that the time has come for God to judge America, end homeschooling, put homosexuals in our church pulpits, and strip us of our civil rights. If so, the delusion that entangles so many may be of God’s doing. Personally, I could not live with the guilt of not voting for Trump and allowing Clinton to become the minister of God’s judgment upon my family and friends. When it all hits the fan, I want to know that it is not my fault. I was not deluded.
Finally again, it is entirely possible that Trump could be the minister of judgment upon us. He could get us into a world war. But I can only go with what I know, not what might be, and I know from what she stands for that Clinton is against all that is wholesome and the constitution.

NGJ Shindig 2014 in North Carolina

Yee-haw!  Let me begin writing about the event with this short post:  I was pleased to actually see and hear Erin Harrison, of Keeper of the Homestead  fame.  She was hilarious playing a hillbilly woman during the main sessions; she even had occasion to sing.  I had never set eyes on her before the shindig, but I had read a couple of articles she wrote for NGJ magazine. Long story short --- she was horribly abused as a young'un. She was far from being, or feeling virtuous. She could have played victim, which she did for a while, and permanently ruined her marriage and family.  The only explanation for her healing and her joie de vivre in spite of the horrors is the power of the Lord Jesus Christ in her life.  She and Debi Pearl led a breakout session on how to have a happy marriage (Wow. This lady was so transparent about her life). I pre-ordered her book Living Virtuously directly from her husband who was manning their exhibitor's table (and who also happens to be just as good-looking as  Erin boasts, lol).  I can hardly wait to start reading it.  The book should be in my hands by the end of this month, God willing.

Emotional Manipulators

Just this week, a family was visiting us in the herb garden while their children played in the yard. The four-year-old girl seemed to be pouty and moody. For a while, she just watched the other children having fun, but didn’t participate. She was the smallest and often couldn’t keep up. After a time, making an attempt to chase after the others, she fell on the thick carpet of grass. She immediately began to scream as if the goat were eating her favorite hat. At the same time, she was doing a stumbling, “pitiful” run to her mother. “Poor child.” The mother, drawn by the desperate, defiant screams, did what all mothers are expected to do, she sympathetically rushed to her “wounded” child. The four-year-old psychologist was well aware that, with others looking on, the mother’s reputation was at stake.

Though it was not outwardly visible, I knew that the mother was irritated at her child. She didn’t really feel sympathetic. She was probably thinking something like this: “What’s wrong with the little brat now? She’s such a crybaby. I know she is not really hurt. Why does she pretend to be?” And then the guilt feelings hit the mother and she lies to herself: “Oh well, she is just a little thing and even though there is no scratch or bruise, and the ground is not hard, maybe she is hurt.

The mother intuitively knows that what she is hearing is not a cry of pain, but of protest.

The mother intuitively knows that what she is hearing is not a cry of pain, but of protest. She can’t sort out all these feelings and facts, so she pretends to be concerned. The mother’s pretense and buried feelings are putting steam in the boiler that will later, in private, boil over into anger and irritability toward her child. The mother, in this situation, actually doesn’t like her child. This causes her to feel inadequate because she knows that her attitude renders her unfit to properly mother her own child. The fact is, the thing that irritates and even disgusts the mother about her child is actually a developing character flaw in the child.

By the responses of the mother, this little girl has been trained to be an emotional manipulator. When she can not get her way, she will pretend to be hurt — or take a small hurt and make it into a big one. The mother will rush to the child and tell the other children to let her play or to not run off and leave her. This further compounds the sibling relationships because the other children don’t feel kindly toward a “crybaby” who forces limitations on their play.

When the child begins to scream her defiance or hurt, the mother should just ignore her. Don’t be moved by it. Don’t pick her up. Tell her that there is no reason to cry, so go away and play. If she demands treatment, ask her if it hurts. If she says yes, then reach in your purse, pull out a terrible tasting herbal potion and give her a spoon full. After she gets through gagging on her vitamin and mineral supplement, tell her that she is now completely healed and invite her to come back for another dose if she again gets hurt. If you don’t have an herbal remedy, use something that is very unpleasant, yet good for the child — like apple cidar vinegar with garlic.

Don’t laugh while she is looking. Remember, you are doctoring a serious attitude problem. Three doses is guaranteed to forever cure emotional manipulators and also prevent the development of future hypochondriacs. If crying and running to mom does not advance her own agenda over others, she will learn to make her own way and accept the normal unfairness and hardships of life. Everyone will like her better, including her own brothers, sisters and parents. Furthermore, she will be happier.

Michael Pearl vs Anderson Cooper

Spanking is well understood, traditionally. I represent 230 million parents who practice corporal chastisement on their children. And they call it "spanking" or "swatting." They do not call it "beating" or "hitting." Because there's a clear distinction.

The distinction is spanking is administered for the child's good, and it's done with an instrument. It's done, not in order to create pain. It's not done in order to create significant pain. It's not done in order to create suffering. It's done to gain the child's attention so you can admonish them. - Michael Pearl

Raising boys: Like Father, Like Son

by Michael Pearl :  The other day, I was downtown, which in our neck of the woods means two blocks of stores on the highway and half of them empty. I had gassed up at one of the two stations and I was about to get into my car when I noticed a duo emerge from the store.

I had to stop and stare at the beautiful humor. Father and ten-year-old son were so identical you could have matched them up out of a thousand daddies and a thousand sons. They sported the same pointed noses and rounded chins. Their blushed cheeks and tall foreheads were perfect copies. Their dark, narrow eyes finished out their common genetic display. They even walked the same, each carrying a Coke and some snack. Their dirty, work-worn pants sagged beneath their bellies in the same manner, and the only difference between their rounded shoulders was proportion—a two hundred pounder and a seventy-five pounder. I wondered how the boy escaped getting any traits from his mother. He looked like a clone of his dad.

As I stood there smiling, I remembered the many good times I shared with my young sons—and daughters—all the stores we entered, rides in old pickup trucks, chores performed together, helping me on the job, going fishing or hunting, or just stopping at a pawn shop to browse.

And then the bell started ringing again, the bell in my head that goes off when I see an example of what is missing in families today. That little ‘cloned’ ten-year-old was emotionally as sturdy as a cedar fence post. I could see relaxed contentment written all over him. He was not a troublesome kid who did things to get attention; he was a little man with responsibility. He respected his daddy and his daddy respected him. They were a team, something even a mother could never understand or share.

Fathers, there is no substitute for time spent with your sons. Boys do not want to sit in front of you and have serious talks. They will scratch you off like a chigger bite. Boys will talk when all eyes are focused on the yellow and white lines on the highway. They will talk when they have a splitting maul in their hands and you are stacking the fire wood they split. Words about duty and doing the right thing and being responsible mean little compared to the example you manifest day after day and year after year. Some of these old country fathers never knowingly try to teach their boys anything, but they manage to duplicate their own character and personality in their sons by means of fellowship.

I say it again:

“More is caught than taught.”

“Like father, like son.”

“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

Life begets life. Living begets living. Righteousness and peace beget righteousness and peace.

The greatest privilege and opportunity this life affords a man is a second, third, fourth, fifth chance (depending on how many kids you have) to mold a man fit for the kingdom of God. Our personal mistakes and shortcomings can be corrected in our sons. We can give God a better childhood, youth, and manhood than our own. We make an indelible contribution to eternity. What an incredible responsibility!

I love the Pearl's ministry to Christian families
through  "No Greater Joy Ministries".  They've
taught me a lot on how to be a better wife and Mom.
