Gold & Diamond Cocktail Ring

I feel smart to have purchased this 3 ct diamond ring at a bargain price compared to a recent advertised price of $2999 (retail $5799 on Macy's site).

I was even happier when Hubby congratulated me on my bargain-shopping skills.

I need to be content, though, as part of our funds are now set aside to pay for our renovations.  For now, no more purchases of luxury items solely to please moi!

Pure Gold prices have been going up!
Most likely caused by USA's tensions with Russia and Syria.  Price is $1300+ per ounce as of today's writing.  It has yet to reach the high of $1900+ per ounce in Year 2011.

Find out a gold piece's current value with the calculator link below. I resort to using the calculator when contemplating a jewelry purchase on eBay.

QVC: Fixing My 18kt Ring

Note the ring's thin shank above.  The Rose flower design made it top-heavy @ over 12 grams.  Thus, it would wiggle uncomfortably on my finger.  After 7 years, I barely used this pretty piece. What a waste.

No more! I paid a visit to two of my local Jewelers for estimates. I chose the family-owned business that I had used once before and costs lower. The goal was to increase the ring band's width to 4-5 mm for a greater grip on my right, index finger. The better fit meant I could use the ring more often.

I felt slightly nervous as I had never had this done to any of my rings.

I dropped the ring off on a Monday at 11 am. Prayed. Waited.

Voila, here it is on Wednesday of the same week. Happy dance!

I won

My name was picked thru a random drawing via someone I follow on IG.  She and another gal who sells costume jewelry online ran the contest. That very morning, I had been perusing the costume jewelry counter at my favorite resale shop.  I chose a reasonably priced necklace; but passed on the earrings and I am sooooo glad I did. When I got home, I found out that I had won. Yay! The Lord must have known that I was in need of a new pair of earrings; and the cute diamond-like ring was icing on the cake. Both pieces are of great quality, and their items are reasonably priced. The package came with a polishing cloth, and printed instructions on care and cleaning.  Very professional!

The lady whom I follow has a nice smile, IMO.   I do not even know her personally, yet she struck me as likeable in real life.
