A Year Ago at MacKenzie-Childs' Barn Sale, Part 1

Black Tie Chandelier
Barn Sale 2020 has been cancelled, sigh. Last year, we began our phenomenal week by travelling from our home in IL to Ontario, Canada (resort located near Georgian Bay, Lake Huron) for a Family Reunion which lasted 3 days.

Then, the icing on the cake of our phenomenal week was our return trip across the border of the good ol' USA into Aurora, NY for the MacKenzie-Child's (by Cayuga Lake) annual Barn Sale of 2019. Thank You, Lord, for the unforgettable memories!

Who could forget browsing the MC store on the premises!!

MacKenzie-Childs: My Family's Farmhouse Tour, Part 1

The entire family was awestruck after we each had our turn at the house-tour.

Daughter says this to me before I had my turn at the farmhouse tour: "Mom, they made us wear covers for our shoes!"  I knew then and there that this road trip was going to be well-worth the effort and accompanying expense.  Boy, was I right. This is a small sampling of our pictures.

Nail Art: Part 5, New York State of Mind

Wow nails from Mrs Waxman of NJ.  Can you tell that she  and family are die-hard MacKenzie-Childs fans who show up at their Barn Sales in July year after year?!!

MacKenzie-Childs: Parchment Check Collection, Part 1

While on a tour of the MacKenzie-Childs Farmhouse, I saw their beautiful Parchment Check  items here and there.  I wish I owned more pieces from this prettiest of patterns by MacKenzie-Childs.

The Parchment Check  coffee mugs below are particularly cute IMO, but they are no longer available on the MacKenzie-Childs web site.

as displayed at the MC farmhouse
I'd like these coffee mugs as a match to my courtly check mug
Had to find them elsewhere, and thank God they popped up online recently. Rumor has it that the entire pattern is on its way out permanently.  Thus, I paid a little on the high side. Items not quite as perfect as I'd expected.  Made my complaint known to the Seller who gave me pretty much a suck-it-up-buttercup response. Sigh.

I found a little blurb online that gave me a peek at his background.  This guy has had difficulty in the past couple of years, including getting arrested. I now feel sorry for him. If the Judge, Lawyers, and Police are as bad as this article  implies, they'll get their own day in court someday.  God will be the ultimate Judge.

Excuse the nasty tone/words of the writer:

"For there is no respect of persons with God."

MacKenzie Childs: Rebecca Proctor's Talented Pianist Son

Young Pianist Alexei's mom is Rebecca Proctor -- Creative Director of MacKenzie-Childs

I love their checkered design and I've personally met her -- their main Designer.

[Alexei] will host Classical Expressions  .... when they air their 10 year retrospective of Tri-Cities performance organization Classical Pianists of the Future. For over a decade CPOTF partnered with PBS station WSKG to feature young pianist performers at the outset of their careers. Part One of the two-part retrospective will air on February 7th at 8pm -- Rebecca Poctor
He plays first in the video.
What an articulate, talented young man.  And those quick, perfect Pianist's hands, wow.  BTW, my own daughter has played a few pieces by Béla Bartók also, namely from "Mikrokosmos".

It's Nikki Haley's Birthday

Happy Birthday to former US Ambassador Nikki Haley (January 20th).  She turns 47 years old.

As usual, I am fascinated by how the rich and famous live. Below is her official residence while a United States Ambassador to the United Nations.  It's a gorgeous full-floor penthouse with a square footage of nearly 6000 square feet. Two corner master bedrooms, 11-feet ceilings and huge windows galore, wow!

The building's location is across the street from the UN complex. Ms Haley lives at the apartment with her husband, son, and dog.  Her daughter is away at college.

Rent: $58,000/month

Who chose this place and how can an Ambassador afford the rent with a "measly" pay rate of $161,900 a year (per Executive Schedule)?  It's all courtesy of the US government, of course -- one of the many perks of a stressful and important job.

See more pictures of the gorgeous apartment in the links below.  The brouhaha over her very expensive apartment drapes is also in the link below as this post was written at the time of the controversy and before her amicable resignation.
