Bathtubs and MacKenzie-Childs, NY

A beautiful  MC-inspired bathroom was recently posted on the MacKenzie Childs blog.  My first thought was: Been there! I was personally at that said bathroom in 2019 during their last MC Barn Sale event.  See my pictures below.  So happy that Hubby had agreed to go out of his way after our Family Reunion in Canada.

This year will be two years in a row that MC will not hold their annual barn sale. Darn you, Covid 19! 😕😠

Barn Sale 2021

After careful consideration, we have decided to hold our iconic Barn Sale only online again this summer to keep our customers and employees safe during these uncertain times.

For those who enjoy shopping MacKenzie-Childs in person, you can look forward to the launch of The Outlet in Aurora, New York, which opens in May. This store, which replaces the current store in Aurora, will be our permanent, full-time outlet and will stock the types of items that are historically carried at the Barn Sale.

To learn more details about the Online Barn Sale, including when it will be held, and The Outlet in Aurora, sign up for email updates or follow us on Instagram and Facebook. (by MC email)

A Year Ago at MacKenzie-Childs' Barn Sale, Part 1

Black Tie Chandelier
Barn Sale 2020 has been cancelled, sigh. Last year, we began our phenomenal week by travelling from our home in IL to Ontario, Canada (resort located near Georgian Bay, Lake Huron) for a Family Reunion which lasted 3 days.

Then, the icing on the cake of our phenomenal week was our return trip across the border of the good ol' USA into Aurora, NY for the MacKenzie-Child's (by Cayuga Lake) annual Barn Sale of 2019. Thank You, Lord, for the unforgettable memories!

Who could forget browsing the MC store on the premises!!

MacKenzie-Childs: My Family's Farmhouse Tour, Part 1

The entire family was awestruck after we each had our turn at the house-tour.

Daughter says this to me before I had my turn at the farmhouse tour: "Mom, they made us wear covers for our shoes!"  I knew then and there that this road trip was going to be well-worth the effort and accompanying expense.  Boy, was I right. This is a small sampling of our pictures.

MacKenzie-Childs: Ridiculous Bench @ Farmhouse

Ridiculous Bench, MacKenzie-Childs
Finally saw IRL this beautiful, colorful, hefty bench by MacKenzie-Childs during our MC Farmhouse tour.

If only I had $5k to spare, haha.  Is it worth it?  I think so: look at the detail, beading, time-consuming painting, majolica, gold-leaf and so on.  Otherwise, you be the judge. I know just where I'd put it if it were ever mine.  Underneath my MC Moose, of course.

Bucket List: MacKenzie-Childs Barn Sale 2019 Day #1

I want!
Left our Niagara Falls hotel -- the final leg of our wonderful Ontario get-together with Family -- by 10:00 am or so and raced towards Aurora, New York for MC's first day of their annual Barn Sale.  It would be our very first time to attend. Fulfilling my bucket list!

Arrived at 3 pm. Lots of cars in the make-shift parking lot on the grounds of MC and hubby randomly picked a spot to park.  We were novices through and through:  where do we go, what should we expect, were we dressed properly for the day?

Bottom line: Long lines, warm day, but we got through the crowded Day #1 event unscathed, yay.  Available space for our haul in our car and the steep cost (even at 50% off) was foremost on my  mind.  So, I only bought the top 2 items on my shopping list, plus one more.  No time to search through the Rugs and I did not even step into the enamelware-sale building. But, who cares? It was great to be there at last!!!

There were only a few large blowing fans during this humid day, but getting away from the tented areas was the key.  The event was memorable not only for what I purchased, but for a couple of unexpected meetings.

I spoke to Rebecca Proctor, MC's Creative Director --  twice!  I tapped her on the shoulder when I first caught sight of her distinctive style from behind (loud courtly check pants, red hair, wedge haircut) and mentioned that I had taken note of her IG  posts about her Pianist son.  Gestured towards my own son and mentioned his Clarinetist endeavors.  She proudly mentioned her son's Summer session at a prestigious Music event.  On our way to check -out she smiled  and spoke to us again.  I was slightly shocked that she had deliberately sought us out in the line and stuttered my responses, LoL.  I totally forgot to take a pictures with her, yipes.

Also met a nicely-dressed family of MC fans from NJ and their laid-back, pampered Persian cat named Gucci which they pushed around in a baby buggy. I also liked her nails, and her hubby noticed my nails, my chevron dress -- and complimented me. The man would do well as a Politician -- friendly, smiley, accommodating -- has good people skills overall.

Charge them that are rich in this world,
that they be not highminded,
nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God,
who giveth us richly all things to enjoy...
