I love ♥ it. It looks and seems well-made, even though it's only synthetic leather. It's a pretty color. The snaps are tight. Most of all, it holds my Nook snugly. I don't want to have to worry about the Nook slipping out and breaking. With this cover, I also won't need to pay too much attention to the cleanliness of my hands/fingers (I'm still careful, though). Not bad for $14.99 and free shipping.
Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.
Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
perfect in power, in love and purity.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity.
There's Dad...as usual. Standing by the door of my childhood home as we piled into our van for the return trip home. It would have been the end of a long and wonderful day with he and Mom. We would have had Lunch or dinner, or both; with the requisite dish made of vegetables from their garden. Around them, we had no need for permission to lounge around...and gossip...and reminisce...and joke...and laugh out loud. Time to let our hair down and let go of our adult responsibilities. Grown-ups having fun --no wonder the children never minded visiting Grandma and Grandpa's house. We were all happy.
And there's the Jungle, aka the front lawn. The object of envy in the whole neighborhood. No square-foot unused/unturned. Such abundance. Flowers. Plants. Colors. And the bees....they ♥ the Jungle and the back yard. It must have been front-page news in the Bee Times. The Bee internet must have been a-buzz with the news: Come one, come all. This small plot is the next best thing to our hive. Sweet stuff from bee heaven. The bees were happy too.
Alas, this was the last known picture of Dad taken by my Brother-in-Law, Chris.
The house has been sold The front garden has been replaced by sod
There is no repeating of this scene. A season of life has ended. Forever Is it such a surprise that I do not heart this picture?
I've had my kids watch this video. With the prevalence of porn and alcohol, we must be extra alert to the wiles of the Ruler of the darkness of this world.
...on a Saturday. I had been on the PC, got up to return to my room, and this was the scene that greeted me. Jillian pounding on the piano playing Beethoven precluded conversation, and forced the three on the sofa to focus on their lap top computers. Hopefully, it was to complete schoolwork, and not just to check on Facebook. Better still if they weren't just "talking" amongst themselves.
Wouldn't I rather greet people with "Prosperous New Year" instead of "Happy New Year"? A Preacher had recently spoken to a friend from Spain, and found that they greet people during the New Year with the Spanish phrase which translates to a greeting of prosperity. Turns out that this greeting is biblically-based.
What does God say about prosperity? What is His secret to prosperity? It is this, a (conditional) guarantee from the Lord Himself...
Joshua 1:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Background: The Israelites, led by Joshua, are now getting ready to enter Canaan. It had been a looong 40 years of wandering in the dessert as a result of their unbelief. A battle is looming. They are commanded to be brave, to meditate on God's law, and to be obedient. The result, especially IF they meditate, is prosperity and good success.
Do I want prosperity and good success? Who wouldn't!! Therefore, I MUST make the Word of God a priority. As I read and memorize His Word, I am to meditate on it....which will lead me to do His will (obey Him)...and the end result is prosperity (spiritual and otherwise) and good success in my life.
For proof, check back in a year.
God willing, you and I will still be here to compare notes.
A birthday gift from my sister: Bar Soap + Liquid Soap I have yet to use either. I would much rather prefer sniffing them. But the day of reckoning is drawing close...hence a picture for memory's sake.
I. According to the Word of God, the majority of us will live to seventy years of age.(Note that the Psalms were written approximately 1037 BC to 539 BC -- long before the beginning of modern medicine in the19th century).
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly awayPsalm 90:10
II. According to the Word of God, two things will shorten our lives: Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?" Ecclesiastes 7:17
Let me deal with the first and most important issue (wickedness): ...the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin-- 1 John 1:7-9 End of story. That's. It.
Second issue (foolishness): Since I'm dealing with a few health problems right now, here's my short list. It's what is wise, and not foolish; what promotes good health; and, God willing, what lengthens life: - - Drink 8 cups of water a day - -Take a brisk walk, no matter how short, at least 5 days a week
There you go --- I've hit number 1, and number 3 of the Top-4 New Year's Resolutions*
* increased exercise, to be more conscientious about work or school, better eating habits, and to stop smoking
