I. According to the Word of God, the majority of us will live to seventy years of age.(Note that the Psalms were written approximately 1037 BC to 539 BC -- long before the beginning of modern medicine in the19th century).
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away Psalm 90:10
II. According to the Word of God, two things will shorten our lives:
Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?" Ecclesiastes 7:17
Let me deal with the first and most important issue (wickedness):
...the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin-- 1 John 1:7-9
End of story. That's. It.
Second issue (foolishness): Since I'm dealing with a few health problems right now, here's my short list.
It's what is wise, and not foolish; what promotes good health; and, God willing, what lengthens life:
- - Drink 8 cups of water a day
- -Take a brisk walk, no matter how short, at least 5 days a week
There you go --- I've hit number 1, and number 3 of the Top-4 New Year's Resolutions*
* increased exercise,
to be more conscientious about work or school,
better eating habits,
and to stop smoking
