My Chanel Bag Got Sold to a Millionaire $$ in California

I sold my beautiful, semi-classic Chanel bag 😔 and felt a little sad in spite of the monetary＄gain. 

It was one of two Chanel bags that I  owned; a staple, go-to black bag for dressy or any occasion. It left a void in my authentic-designer collection. The feeling was similar to losing a BFF to a new job across the country, lol.

 A quick search revealed the 💲 multi-million  dollar💲Starter Mansion that will be her new home. I felt somewhat better 😌

House of Chanel's, Karl Lagerfeld, has had some influence in my life.  Back in the day, my fave designer bags were authentic Chanel bags. As expensive as they were, I really, really liked them. eBay and I became BFFs, hahaha.

 I took pictures of my own bags and and had access to many many more: various Sales Associates from high-end stores sent me tons of pictures.

The kids had fun editing the pictures for me too.  Speaking of kids, Mr Karl's "kid" is a cute cat named CHOUPETTE. She is a blue-eyed Birman cat. She even has her own Instagram page,  ChoupettesDiary  I hope someone takes very good care of her.

The French: Lebon Toothpaste, Hermes, Versailles and Bathing

While at the Palace of Versailles in France, I was reminded once again by our tour guide that King Louis XIV of France  -  aka, the Sun King - was not only the longest reigning monarch in Europe (72 years, 110 days), he also lived to be 76 years old and rarely if ever took a bath, eeeeeeeeeeek. He must have stunk to high heaven and beyond. So much for opulent surroundings and great-looking clothes!

I doubt that King Louis could keep this short list. Funny that the best brands -- be it the most expensive tube of toothpaste (Lebon) I have ever bought, or Chanel, or Hermes -- are from France.

A Parisian Taxi Driver Remembers French Actress Catherine Deneuve

Happy Birthday (October 22) to actress, Catherine Deneuve!  

I remember Catherine Deneuve in my youth being touted as the most beautiful woman in the world (something about being blond and the perfect symmetry of her facial features). She was once the face of  Chanel No. 5 and caused sales to soar in the USA. Supposedly, her friends have even said that she is much more beautiful in person than her pictures can convey.  So, of course, while in Paris she was on my mind. She must have  driven around town, walked these streets, eaten at these bistros, mobbed by the crowds like the beautiful Helen of Troy would have been ...

On our way  to the train station, we were driven by a friendly French taxi driver. 
Our conversation:

Me: Do you ever see Ms Catherine Deneuve? What is she like in person?

Friendly Taxi Driver: *turns around and points to my spot by the taxi's window*
                       

She was once my passenger and sat where you're sitting  now. 

Me:  Was she very beautiful?

Friendly Taxi Driver: No.
 *shakes his head for emphasis*
Not nice.  
Not pretty on the inside. 

Though I had just met Mr Taxi Driver and was not prepared for his blunt answer, there was something about his choice of words, tone of voice, and demeanor that made him believable to me. 
Oh, Ms Deneuve -- what did you do or say to this man??!

Chanel: Pink Wool Suit Worn by Jackie Kennedy Won't be Seen in Public Anytime Soon

Additional documents were recently released on President John F Kennedy's assassination. This "Chanel" suit was worn by FLOTUS, Jackie Kennedy, when it happened.  The POTUS had liked the suit and wanted her to wear it to Dallas.  She wore the suit at least 6x prior to the Dallas event.

It is a strawberry-pink wool bouclé double-breasted suit with navy trim, matched with a pillbox hat.  Mrs Jacqueline Kennedy was encouraged as FLOTUS to Buy American, so the parts of the suit came from Chanel, Paris; but the outfit was actually assembled by  Chez Ninon, NY.

The Public has not seen the blood-stained suit since the horrid days in TX.  It was stored away soon after the assassination and eventually sent to the National Archives via Jackie's mother.  It was officially and legally donated to the United States by daughter Caroline,  Jackie's sole heir, in the year 2003.  It came with a stipulation:  it cannot be publicly displayed for 100 years.  The reason?  So as not to "... in any way to dishonor the memory of the late President or cause unnecessary grief or suffering to members of his family."

None of us reading this will be here in the Year 2103.  But it will likely be seen by our children's grandkids, Lord willing.  It will look amazing and almost new as the suit and accessories (bag, stockings, but not the white gloves or the hat) are stored in an acid-free, custom-made box with temperatures between 65-68 degrees Fahrenheit. The humidity level is kept at 40%. The air is changed daily @ 6x per hour.  Environmentally perfect!
