MacKenzie-Childs: Black & White Dot Welcome Entrance Mat

Brand New, but it had been in storage.
Finally had a chance to show off and use this nice, simple, stark MacKenzie Childs welcome mat in black and white natural coir (to match my black and white house).

How do you know it's by MacKenzie-Childs?  By the presence of the Thistle ⚘, of course!

Too bad we've had a lot of rain and accompanying mud this Spring, ugh. But isn't that the point?  The dirt needs to stop at the door before one enters the house, right?!!

Home Renovation: Black Vinyl Windows, BEFORE ( Part 1)

Before. This time around, no more grids!  The windows are colored black on the exterior, and white on the interior -- at the front of the house. They will be white on white at the back of the house.

Stay tuned for AFTER pictures of the new windows, as well as our new Hardie siding.

Favorite Decor Pillows

Wow pillows; pretty pillows; on-my-radar pillows!  A sampling of my fave pillows thus far. I gravitate towards MacKenzie-Childs pillows.  I like classic black and white (even only in the trim), and those that are a pop of color.

MacKenzie Childs: Deer and Moose Wall Decor

This project was made possible by dear Hubby. He measured, chose the artwork, framed the moose and deer heads, and installed.  His wife (moi!) is very pleased.

The frame for the MacKenzie-Childs animal heads was FREE (picked it up right from my neighbor's throw-away garbage pile).  The other art work were purchased at reduced prices. No wonder this WALL is a happy place for our family and of course, perfectly legal, LoL.

Feast your eyes on the Courtly Check moose head.  My first sighting of it was at BLOOMINGDALE's  department store in downtown Chicago.

Wow, I thought.  Detailed, simple, and in my fave black and white pattern by MC.  The gold on its antlers clinched it. I thought it worthy of  our hard-earned money.  Soon after, it went on sale and I purchased the beauty. Yay.

Bathroom Renovation: Wall Tile

We are planning to gut our downstairs bathroom.
My mind is inundated with WALLs recently (must be because of plans for a certain high wall South of the US border).

Here are a few pictures we took during a quick visit to 3 Home-improvement stores. We wanted to get a feel for the stores' layout; to know what's what, and where's where. Also, some pictures online.

So many choices! Wall to wall, and floor to ceiling's worth of choices.  How do I know which items are of quality? Is a high price an indication of something well-made? What's my color scheme?  Do we order now or wait? And, boy, do I feel ignorant on certain subjects!

I felt a little overwhelmed afterwards. We haven't even chosen our Contractor, for pete's sake!   Not even fast-food dinner from McDonald's could rid me of my low-grade feelings of anxiety.

I must begin with what is most certain: my choice of shower wall (give or take a few, slight variations). Other decor choices will need to fall into place centered on this particular choice.     pc: betahoome.blogspot

MacKenzie Childs @ Bloomingdales

ETA
I am a huge MacKenzie Childs fan.  I buy my pieces piecemeal -- I MUST since running our huge household and acquiring their gorgeous albeit expensive items are not often mutually inclusive. All in good time ... Good things come to those who wait ...let patience have her perfect work ...

Anyhoo, I was beyond thrilled to finally meet Rebecca Proctor, MacKenzie-Childs' Creative Director. She was at the Bloomindale's store in my neck of the woods for the opening of their MC shop.  She and 3 others are in charge of all of the MacKenzie Childs designs, year in and year out. Take a look at the MC  web site for the culmination of their combined vast talent.

What an awesome job Mrs Proctor has: Creating beautiful designs, travelling to many places, and bringing joy to their many customers including moi.
