Our old, beat-up (circa 1997) White-Westinghouse washer conked-out on us very suddenly.  We inherited it from my Parents in 2009 (already 12 years old). 

No regrets -- we got good use out of it thru the years in our busy household (many kids, clothes, towels, messy pets, floor coverings -- you name it).


NOTE:  We also have my Parent's dryer. Still in garage to be used as a back-up for our slowly falling apart Maytag dryer. Thank You, Lord, for my imperfect (like me), yet wonderful parents from whom I've received many benefits. 

The link below for the-best-of-2019 lists a SAMSUNG washer with a very big drum size of 5 cubic feet under the BEST VALUE category.  We bought a somewhat similar washer with 8 cycles instead of 11; in the smaller (yet still huge-to-me) drum size of 4.5 cubic feet.

Nothing fancy: no agitator but has an impeller to accommodate bigger loads; nice-looking drum interior; self-cleaning, cute chimes. So far, we really like it other than for shorty-me being unable to easily reach laundry from the bottom of the washer's large drum.

Whoa! Stock Valuation is UP!

 recent company email: The ESOP Trustee (GreatBanc Trust) has completed its annual valuation and determined the value of ___ Stock to be $5,108 per share, an increase of 30.7% from the previous valuation.  ___'s strong performance in 2017 and outlook for the future were key drivers, but other factors contributed as well.  These included a strong stock market, good performance by comparable companies, solid global economic conditions and the positive effects of the recent change in U.S. Tax rates.

Donald Trump and our Hyundai Sedan

The election of Mr Trump as President of the United States  and our new-to-us HYUNDAI car each entered our lives within a short span of time of each other.

Each situation  evokes  HOPE.  

We are thrilled Mr Trump hit  the goal of 270 electoral votes. We have not felt this excited in 8 years.  Likewise, though our  used car is older, and has logged many miles, and does not have every gadget, it does have predominantly good reviews.  May our lemony-years be behind us.

Not very many XG350Ls are on the road as it was made by Hyundai for only  two years some time ago. However, we managed to catch a glimpse of one in our neck of the woods, though not the luxury version that we own,  just before it very quickly accelerated and disappeared from view. Yep, this model moves rather quickly compared to our former American-made car.

Mr Trump is supposedly very wealthy.  We can partake of that lifestyle with our LUXURIOUS ("the poor man/woman's Mercedes") albeit lacking-in-gadgets automobile when compared to our other car: a spartan, cookie-cutter yet ever-popular, Toyota.

So, the car's rarity (will there be replacement parts available as the years go by?) and Mr Trump's lack of political experience nag us a little. But with risks come potential for great rewards. We'll take the unknown over same ol' same ol' -- be it our choice of car, or for whom we vote. However, we will pray -- harder than ever, and more  often than ever. 

Prediction of the Richest Cities in the World in the Near Future

These cities are suppose to be the richest cities in the world in the next 10 years. Before you plan to buy properties there consider these thoughts:

1) Doha,Qatar - I disagree with this one. Even though it was growing so fast, the price of oil which is its main source of income is down and will continue to be in the $40 or lower range for a long time. This place was over built when oil was $150/barrel.

2) Bergen, Norway

3)Trondheim, Norway - I agree with these two Norwegian cities, but not as rich as some had predicted. These two cities are financial hubs of Norway...a country most blessed by the North Sea oil bonanza. The Norwegians , however, did a very smart thing ... they invested their oil profits. They created their sovereign fund which is now one of the biggest in the world and worth hundreds of billions. They are not dependent on their oil revenues for continued prosperity.

5) Asan, South Korea - I agree with these ones. South Korea has one of the most vibrant economies of the world...thanks to very smart economic policies of South Korean Government. If the U.S.A. would just adopt same economic policies, we would truly Make America Great Again.

6) Macau, China - This is a wild card. It was the richest one a few years ago but the Chinese Government clamped down on its gambling Industry because of its corrosive effect on the Chinese people ( Asians are some of the biggest gamblers in the world. Its genetic). However, the Chinese are a resourceful people. The same genes that makes them gamble, makes them take risky but lucrative ventures.

List of Generations: From the Lost Generation to Gen X and Gen Y

 Western world

There have been many conflicting attempts to enumerate the generations of the western world.. Here are a few common definitions:

The Lost Generation, primarily known as the Generation of 1914 in Europe, were those who fought in the First World War.
The Interbellum Generation is composed of those born at the close of the 19th century and were young adults during the 1920s.
The Greatest Generation is the generation that includes the veterans who fought in World War II. They were born from around 1910 to the mid-1920s, coming of age during the Great Depression. Journalist Tom Brokaw dubbed this the Greatest Generation in a 1998 book of the same name.
The Silent Generation is the generation that includes those who were too young to join the service during World War II. Many had fathers who served in World War I. Generally recognized as the children of the Great Depression, this event during their formative years had a profound impact on this generation.
The Baby Boom Generation is the generation that was born during World War II to the late 50s, a time that was marked by an increase in birthrates worldwide.[citation needed] Baby Boomers in their teenage and college years were characteristically part of the counterculture of the 1960s, the generation remained widely committed to keystone values such as gender equality, racial equality, and environmental stewardship.
Generation X is the generation generally defined as those born after the baby boom ended, extending from around 1960 to the late 1970s. They were the first generation with widespread access to television during their formative years. As young adults, this generation was characterized by the Yuppies, or young urban proffesionals.

Eastern world

China's Generation Y is a generation of approximately 240 million people born between 1980 and 1990 in China, although characteristics of Generation Y people have also been seen in those born after 1990 but before 2000. Growing up in modern China, China’s Gen Y has been characterized by its optimism for the future, newfound excitement for consumerism and entrepreneurship and acceptance of its historic role in transforming modern China into an economic superpower.

In South Korea generational cohorts are often defined around the democratization of the country, with various schemes suggested, some names include the democratization generation, 386 generation (also called June 3, 1987 Generation), that witnessed the June uprising, the April 19 generation (that struggled against the Syngman Rhee regime in 1960), the June 3, generation (that struggled against the normalization treaty with Japan in 1964), the 1969 generation (that struggled against the constitutional revision allowing three presidential terms), and shinsedae (new) generation.
