This dish was my favorite, and I hardly eat pork unless as bacon or ham. Something about its sweet taste, maybe.  I aso shared a little leftover parmesan cheese with my Dog which made him get a tummy ache -- sorry pup.

Our family had previously subscribed to Blue Apron and HelloFresh. 

With fewer people living at home, I was on the lookout for re-starting  another meal subscription at a lower price.  

EveryPlate came to the forefront via my IG account.  The company touts itself as the lowest price meal subscription in North America. True, but it does comes at a "cost". BTW, Every Plate was launched by HelloFresh in 2018.

...  the recipes are only suitable for people who eat meat and do not suffer from any major food allergies. This significantly reduces the number of potential customers.

In other words, EveryPlate’s offer confirms the well-known fact that you cannot have it all. With this service, you get quality food and great convenience at an unbeatable price. However, you should not expect anything fancy and if you want your meals to be customized to suit any special dietary preferences, you need to customize them yourself.

I fondly remember a favourite hen in my youth who was a prolific egg-producer.  She gave and she gave. We'd eat and eat.  (I do recall seeing her followed by a bunch of little, yellow chicks at least once). 

She did what was expected of her and knew to whom she belonged.  She'd come running when I called for din-din time.   I could count on seeing her  (and our 3 dogs, kitty and 2 pigs)  like clockwork. Day in, day out.

Life was consistent and good in our little corner of the Province.  It didn't last.  We moved to the USA and left everything behind except for a couple of suitcases and the clothes on our back. Who took care of our beloved pets/animals?  I never heard my parents discuss it, but one animal was butchered. News conveyed thru a letter. Damn.  The house and lot went back to the legal owners.  I resorted to praying for the other animals' well-being for months afterwards, but I never knew what befell the rest of them.

O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

 So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.

A First! Wedding at Big Mansion

Our friends' only daughter recently got married.  The venue for both ceremony and reception was the Lehmann Mansion in Villa Park, IL. 

PROs: 

1. gorgeous, quality-built mansion with wood trim and floors, lots of windows
2. pretty garden
3. open Bar
4. pleasant Servers
5. great food

CONs:

1.  mosquitos in the evening were a-plenty 
2. cars/parking lot was the de-facto background on some outdoor photos. A prettier background via the installation of a tall, decorated barrier is a must.
