Daughter, the Neighborhood Pianist

pc: Town & Country Gardens
A Town & Country Gardens  delivery person knocked at our front door to drop-off a potted plant for our neighbors who were not home.  He made a beeline for our house and crossed  the cul-de-sac because our slightly open window made it possible for him to hear our daughter practicing the Piano.

There are 5 other houses he could have chosen, but he knew we were obviously home as he could hear the  pretty music (F. Chopin).  Mr Delivery Man complimented daughter's playing.  He also said a close relative of his had 3 Music degrees, and even mentioned something about the CSO.  He grew up surrounded by Music, obviously.  Now I know why he came to the house. I was pleased that he enjoyed what I am thankful to God to hear almost daily. This was also one instance I did not mind daughter talking with a stranger.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. (Psalm 100)

One more look at a niece's Wedding #tbt

A look back at
 the Berg Wedding weekend:

Rolando & Romeo
competitive, as usual

Glenda, the Birthday Girl

Marissa, Bailey, Farrah

A view from the opposite side of the bubble aisle
Jared doing his part to add to the festivities

...but looking rather somber.
Do you miss your Camp buddies, son?

Everyone loves bubbles!

Farrah & Cousin Jamie (future dentist). ETA, she's now an RN

Farrah "borrowed" my LV pochette
Throw Back Thursday.  This was what I wrote then. Good times, and memories:

The wedding is over, the couple is honeymooning in Hawai'i, homeschool duties beckon, & we're back at our old routine. We are looking forward to Kristi's full-time, paid status at Season's. Camille is leaving for college on August 21st --- not looking forward to THAT, but we'll cross the bridge when we get there. She is chompin' at the bit, though, and has bought 99% of what she thinks she needs.

I need the grace of God to get me through this season of life --- letting go of our adult (!)children; and cheering them on with enthusiasm. Where, oh where, did the time go??

50 cent

Who says money can't buy happiness?
I just elicited a very big smile from Farrah for this orange, GIANT gumball that cost a whopping 50 cents.

And, she is still smiling.

(the can of pop was for me, @ 20 cents, hihihi)

Friedrich Nietzsche in Junior Choir Class

The back of this little boy's shirt got me to thinking --- what are other, famous   Friedrich Nietzsche quotes??  (other than the one about God being dead, of course)

For your entertainment, here is a sampling:

~  Insanity in individuals is rare - but in groups, parties, nations, and epochs, it is the rule

~ The lonely one offers his hand too quickly to whomever he encounters

~ The advantage of a bad memory is that one enjoys several times the same good thing for the first time

~ When thou goest to woman, take thy whip

~ woman may very well form a friendship with a man, but for this to endure, it must be assisted by a little physical antipathy

~ Never to talk of oneself is a form of hypocrisy

~ For every man there exists a bait which he cannot resist swallowing

~ Sleeping is no mean art. For its sake one must stay awake all day

This one made me laugh harder than some of his other quotes:

~ Family love is messy, clinging, and of an annoying and repetitive pattern, like bad wallpaper

Anima Attraction!!

CSA's Junior and Senior Choirs joined forces with the Anima Singers  (formerly the Glen Ellyn's Children's Chorus) on Saturday for an authentically-fun time.  Mrs Eiten and Mrs Bingham are two of the best, most likeable  and gregarious Music Directors I have ever met.  The children danced and sang.  They matched the songs with appropriate hand and body gestures.  Even their facial expressions were engaged. And, don't forget the importance of lyrics! There is an audience out there watching your every move, and listening to  your every word, after all.

Whew! At the end of the hour and a half session, we all felt inspired and rejuvenated. What an awesome time!

Questions for you:  Can you tell who, among the children in the class, are members of  Anima Singers ?

First Haircut

Derrick gave Farrah her very first semi-pro haircut.  He will be graduating in less than 3 weeks--moving on to his own Salon.  Maybe someday I'll show up at his new place in Schaumburg.  In the meantime, He will be missed..
He has "recovered" from his amazing backstage encounter with Lady Gaga.  He has stopped dreaming about her, says he.  And yes, she knew he was a hairdresser during their short meeting.  Wouldn't it be nice if sometime down the road, she'll remember how nice he is, and send out the word to hire him on the spot?!
We have plans to donate Farrah's 10-inch cut-off hair to Locks of Love. Stay tuned.

J Crew's Torrence Dress (Crewcuts Collection)

This is the silk "Torrence" party dress by J Crew (Crewcuts Collection).  I went to their Oakbrook store and saw it on display -- Retail $ 118.  I would not have considered purchasing it if it hadn't been so drastically reduced.  I purchased  the dress in  Red/Orange (Cerise); and online in Bright Pink (Fuschia).  I even got her the striped tights which matches either dress!

This is one of the reasons I love having daughters. Girls' clothes selection, whether at retail stores, the internet, or at re-sale shops, is tremendous and varied. Daughters are also sweet and lovable ♥ (and moody).
