Read This Before You Buy a Beach House

Been binge watching shows on HULU including "Beach Hunters" and "Island Hunters". I was green with envy.  Wouldn't we all like to live in a  house by the ocean?  Oh, if I only had a couple of million dollar$$ to spare!

Quickly got sober by the lady's Instagram post from real life (though I don't agree that  kids cause a quandary). Learn from her mistakes.  The downside of living by the edge of that beautiful body of water!!

Serena Crawford:  "This was once our bedroom at my beach house. So today’s post is about maintenance. It never occurred to me when we built this (or to the Architect ) that we would have to clean these windows every couple of days. Forever ... That set over a plunging cliff with swirling salty seas below and no safe platform to stand on that it would eventually take two brave window cleaners and a safety harness to sort this problem out every 24 hours. My entire life in this bedroom there were only a few hours every few days when they were spotless from salt fog and they didn’t have someone cleaning them. Also, we needed to erect total scaffolding to change the light bulbs in this triple volume ceiling and paint the windows. My advice is before you design or do anything, think ...’how am I going to be able to clean and maintain this?’. This also applies to: white painted floors, reams of glass. Houses on different continents, preferably minimum 24 hours on a plane away from each other. Immaculate red nail polish, white trouser suits, blond hair if your hair is actually another colour, straight hair if your hair is actually curly. 4 dogs and two children.
I’ve unknowingly committed all these crimes and gone to enormous trouble to bring them into my life. I had no idea how the hell any of it happened and what it would mean to my life until I was faced with the eternal quandary .... how to clean and maintain all the above. Learn from my mistakes! #keepitsimple #highmaintenace #quandry"

Actress Debbie Reynolds' Beachfront Home

It was 2 years ago that actress, Debby Reynolds, passed away.  This was her former beach home which she had sold and eventually tried to buy back (unsuccessfully) from director, Gary Marshall.  It is relatively "humble" in comparison to the other homes of the rich-and-famous in the neighborhood, but still has a steep price tag of $16 million as of the writing of the article.  Click on the link below for more pictures and the full article by AOl.

On a personal note, Ms Reynolds has always come across to me (and to most of the general public) as a clean-cut and girl-next-door type.  Someone I personally know has seen her live show.  "Reynolds was vulgar while on stage, " says she.

Oh, no. I should not be surprised.  Reynolds is an actress -- she pretends for a living.  What we see on the screen is not who she is IRL. Being on stage before a real audience may have provoked her to be more like herself. Shock value may have added to the situation. Unless while alive she knew Christ as Savior and accepted Christ's atoning work -- by faith -- all her filthiness is unforgiven and has earned her a spot in Hell. No amount of prayer by others in who are still in the world will get her out. It's unbiblical, for one. No one gets out. Very sad end for her.

Healthy Monday: Beaches

Nothing turns your thoughts to beaches more than multiple days of 90-degree Fahrenheit temperatures.

by C Heiser: There’s nothing quite as synonymous with summer as the beach — and we’ve got good news for those who flock to the surf and sand as soon as work lets out on Friday afternoon.

Research finds that spending time by the ocean is pretty good for your wellbeing. In fact, according to an analysis of English census data published in the journal Health Place, those who live by the coast report better physical and mental health than those who don’t.

And in a study published in the Journal of Coastal Zone Management, participants who live in homes with ocean views report feeling calmer than those without them.

So, it makes sense then that Hawaii has earned the ranking of happiest state in the U.S. by the annual Gallup poll six times since 2008, doesn’t it?

They're Baaaack! Take 1 : Closing Ceremony, Canteen Food & the Beach

The Closing Ceremony at the Youth Camp was at 10:00 AM sharp! There was moderate to heavy traffic, and one non-functioning traffic light in Woodstock. Thus, we didn't get to the camp till 10:15.

Pictures of the ceremony to follow. Below are LG Beach scenes taken from the car 'coz we couldn't stop; and Jared's fellow staff members at the Camp Canteen where we had our (non-healthy) lunch of Pepsi, Nachos with melted cheese and peppers, and ice cream. Yummy!
