Happy Birthday to our beloved Camille Grace! We bless the Lord's Name for our wonderful, multi-talented, beautiful daughter. She is now pursuing her career at SouthernU, having won a very competitive full academic scholarship. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless her with many, many more birthdays. May He keep her safe and successful while away from home.

We love you, Camille. We are proud of you. We miss you so much.

Studying hard in her dorm room

The name Camilla originates from Italy and is of uncertain origin. In the nineteenth century it gained its greatest fame as a result of the novel and play by Dumas, The Lady of the Camellias, which served as the basis for Verdi's opera La Traviata and several films including Greta Garbo's Camille. It is a pet name and not the given name of the heroine, and the Latin root has no relation to the flower that is her symbol. The flower Camellia was named for Georg Joseph Kamel, who first described it in the 18th century. Kamilah has also its origin in Arabic (كاملة), in which it means perfect.
Variations of the name include: Camella, Camila, Camilah, Camile, Camille, Kamila, Kamilah, Kamilla, Khamilah and Kamille.
Short forms: English: Cammy, Cam, Millie, Milla. Slovak: Kamilka

Watch out, Cindy Lauper!

Watch out, Girls!

Go out there, ladies, and buy yourselves some leggings, short skirts, cropped vests, fedora hats and preppy shirts. Add to the heap anything that is outlandish, bold, or bright!

I can't picture myself ever having worn the above style over 20 years ago, but, hey, it sure looks cute on the young 'uns nowadays. Go, Hannah!

Cash for Clunkers Government Rebate Program

This Red-hot, Gorgeous, Brand New '09 Nissan Versa automobile belongs to the Curiels. They wisely took advantage of our government's cash-for-clunkers rebate program. WooHooo!

Their daughter, Abby, is leaving this week for Minnesota to attend school. She's in her sophomore year of college --- a future doctor! We will miss you, Abby! God bless you; and keep you and your whole campus safe. See you in November, Lord willing.

American Idol: Phil Stacey Concert

We saw Phil Stacey in concert last night at Elmhurst Christian Reform Church. Nice voice, & a personable guy. Even got to shake his hand. Forgot the camera --- drat! He's promoting his new CD "Into the Light" and his upcoming Fall 09 tour with Michael W. Smith (with whom he shares a Manager). Phil Stacey was on American Idol, Season 6; and made it to top 5 before he was voted off. Picture courtesy of tangle.com -- Click to enlarge.

College Dormitory Life and Food

Six hours after DH,DSs, & Camille drove off from our house, they arrived at DD's dorm room . Her room-mate had already claimed a corner of the room some 4 hours earlier; but they didn't officially meet till the afternoon. No TV in their room - YaY!

No land-line phone either!!?

I love the wooded area behind her building. Three hunderd miles away from home and you might as well be in.... Wisconsin. I bet the stars shine un-impeded at night. Bikes are also popular; I'm glad DD brought hers (though not the new one from the accident). Shots of the cafeteria, and a sampling of dorm food -- I am soooooo happy she packed her vitamins along, Ha!
