Why I Love Roses

In my youth in the old country, we had two Rose bushes. They suffered from our benign neglect; yet grew to 3 feet tall, flowered faithfully, albeit sparsely.

My cousin lived with us, and happen to be a not-too-shabby artist.  One day, he drew a picture of red roses for me.  Beautiful!  I took the drawing to school to show it off.  My boy-crush noticed it (and me, hehehe)  and deliberately sat close by in order to copy the drawing. I was thrilled at his attention and my girl classmates' envious glances affirmed my feelings that there was obviously something between us, he truly liked me, and we had a future together. Happy sigh ...

Nothing came of it, obviously, yet it was a red-letter day. I still smile at the memory. From that moment on,  I became convinced that Roses are da bomb.  They are the prettiest and most romantic things on God's green earth!

Valentines Day: Let your man be the initiator

Remember Ladies, every man is afraid of SOMETHING. That's one of the ways you know he's in love with YOU. He's afraid of LOSING you. If you are always having to CHASE him, BLOWING UP his cell phone, HITTING him up on facebook, text messaging him ALL the time, he's probably NOT in love with you. Never CHASE love and affection or attention. If it's not given FREELY then it's not worth having. Be careful of COMMITTING yourself to someone who is not committed to you. Judges 16:2 ... Am I RIGHT Brothers or am I WRONG? #LOVEisaVERB

The book by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo called He's Just Not That Into You, affirms the above; and most importantly, so does Scripture.

A special trip for Mrs E

I kid you not, this is what I got from Hubby on Valentines' Day:

my favorite candy/mint
Perhaps, my true-blue Ilocano (read: frugal) husband felt a twinge of guilt, though there was not a peep of complaint out of me (I happen to ♥ Mentos). He got crackin' to repair the "damage" ( IRL, he is a true-blue Carinioso --affectionate one -- when the mood hits);  and told me a couple of weeks later that he had a surprise, and sent this email:
Hello lucky Mrs.  E,
You have just won a two day, one night getaway package with a very handsome gentleman (me). The date is April 5, 2012,at the French Country Inn ....  Check-in is at 4:00 pm and check-out is 11:00 am. The room has a KING-SIZED BED …
The room suddenly felt very warm. He had my full attention at this point.  Finally, a chance for the two of us to get away on a romantic weekend. Hoorah! I continued reading…
“…and a sleeper sofa. The 2 younger kids are free and our 16 year old costs only an additional $10.0 for breakfast...
Whoa...The kids are coming along?! WTH.  Say, it ain't so, Mr E.
Talk about a true-blue letdown, sigh...

Surprise from him

My hubby never buys gift baskets. So, when this Ghirardelli basket awaited my return from Piano lesson today, it was a bit of a shock. I called him at work, and at first he says Happy Anniversary; then quickly corrected himself and said Happy Valentine's Day.  In answer to my question as to why he purchased the basket, he emphasized that it was on SALE, it was a good deal, they had free shipping, and not to worry about it. So, okay, I won't worry.  Russel Stover from AJ. We'll have great dessert tonight!
