Singer Ed Ames: Birthday & My Cup Runneth Over

Happy 92nd Birthday, Mr Ed Ames!!

Singer Ed Ames may also be known for being a TV Actor (Daniel Boone ), but I will remember him most for his beautiful baritone voice and his solo renditions of two of my very favorite songs from my youth:

Try to Remember, and

My Cup Runneth Over

LYRICS:  Maybe it was the biblical reference (Ps 23); or the fact that two of my dear loved-ones are born in the month of September (son, grandson), but these two songs' words are memorized and are at home in my heart.

Max Lucado & Fixer Upper

I was in the middle of binge-watching HGTV's Fixer Upper when Joanna Gaines mentioned to Chip that the lady client, Sarah Jones, happen to be Max Lucado's daughter.  Happy Birthday to author, Max Lucado (born January 11, 1955).

Mr Lucado performed Sarah's wedding to Jeff Jones in year 2014 and wanted the Gaines to include words in a prayer to God that he had written which were part of their wedding service.

A WEDDING PRAYER

Would you take these two,
of dust and bone,
Born of flesh, then you,
Would you make them one?
Would you speak again
The words you spoke
When Adam slept
And Eve awoke?
Would you let your wine
Replace our water.
And look with grace
On this son, this daughter?
Oh Lord of Eden
In your majesty
Create again
Your tapestry
One heart
Where there were two.
This is the prayer
We lift to you.
by Max Lucado
The Gaines came through with the request.  See how they did it in the episode called:  "A Young Couple Hopes for a House With Old World Charm" (Season 3, Episode 9).

TV Show: Gilligan's Island Harbor Scene and Dawn Wells

This post is in honor of actress Dawn Wells,(Mary Ann), who celebrates a birthday on October 18 (80 years old). She and actress Tina Louise (Ginger Grant) are the only remaining main characters from the show who are still living as of this writing.

The show's opening-scene harbour was pointed-out to me by our Tour Guide while I was in Honolulu (one of my best vacations ever; in the company of my son, sibs, and other relatives).  Happy thoughts were triggered once again via my sister & brother-in-law's pictures while they spent a glorious week in Hawaii to celebrate her birthday.

The informative link below will add info to the gaps of what you know about the show's opening season harbour scene. Someone spent a lot of time researching and deserves a shout-out via this post.

TV Ratings: CBS Murphy Brown show

Actress Candice Bergen caught my attention on Instagram because of her disrespect for the POTUS on certain posts, though I am a long-time admirer of hers. She is one of the producers of the rebooted Murphy Brown show. She also likes jokes about bm / poop. Thus, I discern the show's theme to be:  The-sky-is-falling-with-Trump-in-charge.  Resist. Accuse. Revile. And, yeah, be "funny" about it.

You be the judge, but refer to the quote below.  TV ratings further down.

I did not watch the first 2 shows.  Seems that others are not interested neither. We shall see, Lord willing, what the next few weeks bring. Betcha the producers and writers turn-up the ratchet in a desperate bid for ratings and attention.

Things have changed since the days of the old Murphy Brown. I can not imagine VP Pence paying heed to this show as did VP Quayle. The general public is bored of more of the same vile spew and mind-in-the-gutter thinking of Left-leaning actors. There's more than enough of the constant bashing of duly-elected President Trump/his Administration and Conservatives from the mainstream media.
Respect!  Something fresh, new, positive, upbeat, and truly funny, Candice, paaahlease!!

Definitions:
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings are available at approximately 11 a.m. ET the day after telecast. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns.
Share (of Audience):
The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time.
Time Shifted Viewing:
Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include  viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Science Matters According to Gilligan

Science Matters, Part 1

A Gilligan's Island fan thought that Science matters as evidenced by the picture below during a recent Earth Day event attended by our neighbour.

Earth Day 2017 coincided with the Science March held in many places.  IMO, the march was just another opportunity for Leftists to get world-wide (free) coverage as they demean the POTUS;  and flex the muscles of their superior brains as we ignorant, average folk shake in our non-designer boots.  Okay, I admit to being ignorant on many Science/Environmental issues, but information is out there.  Fact is, there is way too much information on this divisive subject. Thus, I appreciate short articles that get to the heart of the matter. Below is an excerpt of one.  BOLD means a link for the source.

Green Energy is Inefficient
Climate change and renewable energy is one of the chief causes of the Science March, championed by Bill Nye and others. The march was deliberately scheduled to take place on Earth Day, when people are supposed to demonstrate their support for the environment by turning all their lights on...
Yet many of the fossil fuel alternatives championed by the eco-warriors are woefully inefficient. Wind farms in particular are a poster child for wastefulness, operating at 90 percent capacity or above for just 17 hours a year .  Solar energy is another shocker – according to electrical engineering professor Petr Beckmann,  it would take 1,000 hours of pure sunshine for a 15-square inch solar panel to generate the same amount of energy as a single lump of coal.
In the U.K., vast sums of money have been poured into green energy schemes, only to disappear  after the companies that took advantage of government spending either went into administration or failed to deliver.
Another problem for environmentalists:  wind turbines have killed more birds of prey  like eagles, raptors, and kestrals than deliberate shootings and poisoning.
