Charlie Chaplin Remembered

The late Mr Chaplin's birthday rolled around this month once again.  I am not a fan of his old movies, per se, but I remember him fondly for his Music.   This song is one of my all time favorites!

Why? It prompts good memories of my youth. The music is soothing and pleasantly pleading;  while the lyrics have a life lesson worth applying for anyone.

If the Lord God allows me in Switzerland once more, I will make an effort to see his  earthly body's final resting place.

A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance:

but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

(Proverbs 15)

Smile

Music by Charles Chaplin, Lyrics by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons

Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through
for you

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you’ll just
Smile

Charlie Chaplin
